Quirky place to start stay right in the heart of York

The atmosphere, it's like stepping back in time into a bygone era. The food was nice, drinks were reasonably priced. Good entertainment on each night. All the staff were approachable and friendly. Didn't encounter any problems.

Hotel rooms were quite expensive compared to many places. But I suppose it's a unique setting and the pub has a long history. Not many places has that unique vintage charm.

In diesem alten Gebäude, mit schrägen Böden und krummen Wänden fühlte ich mich ausserordentlich wohl. Das Haus hat von der Bar übers Restaurant inklusive dem Zimmer einen durchgehend schönen Charakter. Das Zimmer war nicht ein Zimmer, sondern eine kleine Suite mit Sofa und wunderschönen Bildern an den Wänden. Das Badezimmer mit der alten Badewanne auf Füssen, dem dazu passenden Lavbo, der Dusche alles mit Antiken Armaturen, die zum Alter des Gebäudes passten. Auch die aufgehängten Bilder von alten Zeiten, es war wirklich wie im Traum hier wohnen zu dürfen. Da gehe ich gerne wieder hin. An dem Anwesenden Personal im Restaurant am Abend, sowie am morgen möchte ich danken für die Freundlichkeit Besonders schön fand ich, dass Sie mir das Frühstück bereits eine halbe Stunde vor der offiziellen Zeit servierten. Ich war mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs und konnte dadurch frühzeitiger los.

Everything. Quirky, welcoming, historic pub. Bedroom was very atmospheric, beautifully decorated with quality fittings . Breakfast waitress Alex was warm and friendly. Pub was lively in the evening, the live band sounded great. A really top place to stay for a unique experience in York.

There wasn't anything to dislike.

Loved the history and the character of the building and the refurb of the rooms is stunning whilst keeping the charm of a historic haunted pub. The staff were so friendly and helpful and even made me a pack up veggie breakfast to have in the room as I had to work so couldn’t pop down. No ghostly activity although some of them pictures I took when waking up in the night have some strange misty orbs and anomalies on them.

No negatives..everything was perfect.

The staff, the spacious rooms, large ensuites, location, pub, decor. This place far exceeded our expectations. Would happily recommend to anyone who would like to immerse themselves in something ghostly.

My room was gorgeous. Huge bathtub, massive room. Loved it
