Excellent hotel with outstanding breakfast. Spacious room w/ modern features. Parking was located in parking garage attached to the hotel. Cost was $12/night, but the lot was well lit and easy to access. This was our first time to San Carlos, but we felt safe and really enjoyed the area.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt. When I first checked in, I was warmly welcomed by a wonderful woman at the front desk who was kind and professional, which gave me a great first impression. The next morning, however, I had a very different experience. Around 9:30 a.m., I went downstairs for coffee. The sign at the bar said, “Wait a minute, we’ll be right back.” When a staff member returned—a man with dark hair and glasses, whose name I believe was Rogettio—I politely asked what time the coffee service would begin. His response was startling: “I’m not going to make you coffee. I’m closing the bar.” When I said I understood, he added, “I’m not making you coffee anytime soon.” What upset me even more was how he treated me compared to others. I watched him be pleasant and helpful with other guests, yet with me, he rolled his eyes, wouldn’t make eye contact, and dismissed me in a way that felt openly disrespectful. I was left wondering why I was singled out. I live with a disability and was limping that morning, and it made me question if that played a role in how I was treated. This encounter was humiliating and deeply disappointing. Guests deserve respect and basic courtesy, regardless of the situation. Sadly, this overshadowed what could have been a positive stay, and I would not return to this property.

I love Hyatt Place San Carlos. Love is a strong word for a hotel but after trying about 4 other hotels and 2 inns in the area, we are coming back to the Hyatt Place for repeat stays. I'm actually a local but I need periodic accommodations. I prefer hotels that check-in at 3, checkout at 12, with a high probability for early check-in. The location is a generally quiet area with residences nearby. It's walking distance to a few shops and restaurants along El Camino (Kabul, Ryoshin, McDonalds, etc.) and a short drive to the Laurel strip of restaurants if you want to stay in San Carlos. Belmont and RWC also have great restaurants, and you can also get food at the Placery downstairs. There is paid parking within the structure (e-vehicle charging stations available; other places charge $10 or $22 a night so Hyatt is on the lower end) and street parking is also available. It's convenient that the 1F parking lot walks directly into the lobby. This is a relatively new structure (they opened in 2023) and they did an amazing job. We tend to stay in the King + sofa bed rooms and its spacious. The rooms have a safe, mini fridge, a TV (that has some connectivity glitches), iron, and hair dryer. There is a microwave in the dining area on the 1st floor. The staff are great (Kim, among the other reception and dining staff). The biggest difference for me is that their online system/app allows for early check-in and notifications, which are super helpful. At other hotels, you need to arrive in person to find out if we can check-in early. They also have a digital key (which I haven't tried yet). Overall a well-designed hotel that maximizes its space. Highly recommend for business or leisure, and especially if you have Hyatt membership.
