Clarion Pointe Mattoon near University

A great basic hotel with all the things you need for a short stay... it is a bit dated, and some deep cleaning would be appreciated... but, we enjoyed our stay with a large group and the staff is always super friendly and helpful.

Front desk employees were amazing and very accommodating for our early check. Rooms were clean. Had a blast and would definitely be returning!!

I love the property it was nice and clean and is near lots of places to go out and eat

Room smelled musty and bathroom is badly in need of an upgrade. Toilet is only about 2" from vanity.

Hallways need vacuuming,carpet in our room filthy , just walking across carpet barefoot made feet dirty, bed lean , bathroom needs work tub seemed dirty. Returned around midnight and several young people outside by side door drinking, reported to desk clerk but it didn't seem to matter.

Very clean and comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend it.

This was the best $ value considering all the other hotels surrounding While I was not interested in a swimming pool, many children were having a great time when I arrived. So that's a great way to entertain them!

The location is good. We were in town for an event in Charleston, Il and having stayed in both motels and finding them lacking thought we'd give Mattoon a try. We will keep looking. The hotel is nicely located and for the price the amenities are good. The staff checking us in was courteous and efficient and our room was clean. One day during our stay I had a migraine so I came back to the hotel to take medication and lay down for a bit. Unfortunately a nap was not possible as housekeeping staff were screaming back and forth to each other using quite a bit of colorful language. For me, I like the F word as much as the next person but I try to limit it while at work. Plus they were literally not in the same rooms but in rooms next to each other so they literally yelling back and forth at each other. That night, a boys birthday party was taking place in the hotel pool and the parents decided to have a raucous drinking parking lot party while their little ones were swimming. They brought plenty of booze and a nice loud stereo system and drank the night away without hotel management seeming to care. I thought it was going to be a long night but apparently a fight broke out between some party members and finally the police were called. I called the hotel desk as everyone came into the hallway outside our room and were arguing about what occured. I'm not sure of the outcome but after the police left things got pretty quiet. at

My room was not ready when I got there. They told me it would only be 10 minutes and gave me my room key. After 20 to 25 minutes they came back and told me they have another room for me and gave me a different key to another room. I and my roommate decided to go down to the pool and get into the hot tub. The hot tub was full of dirt. I was very disappointed ...
