InterContinental Koh Samui Resort, an IHG Hotel

Really love it for its Easygoing atmosphere, not those uptight luxury hotel. Beachfront villa was just right for us. Very private beach and nice view. Though not entirely private as we share the garden and beach access with other villas, I never felt unsafe or any invasion of privacy. The working staff seem to be aware and always looked away if they had no choice but to walk past. Service was excellent, especially the warm welcome from Dow and also the care and smile from Lisa. Even Mui from Flames restaurant was passionate to serve. Finally the spa by Harnn was such a treat, we went twice! We had such a great relaxing time, it made us already think of our second visit there.

My wife and 22 year old daughter spent a truly beautiful week here in late April/early May. We were married here 30 years ago when it was recently opened as Baan Taling Ngam and operated by Mandarin Oriental. I am delighetd to say that this stunning resort has lost none of its charm or beauty. The entire staff were simply wonderful and warm, the food was exceptional (particularly the excellent breakfast buffet) and the facilities well maintained. We stayed in a 2 bedroom oceanview villa which was just lovely. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough. We will certainly be back. Also, a big thank you to the team for presenting us with a framed collage of photos from our wedding 30 years ago. We were the first wedding here so have always had a special connection to the place and its wonderful people.

This is one of those hotels that pay huge attention to details. It is a luxurious resort with fantastic breakfast, comfortable bed, super friendly staff everywhere and jaw-dropping view from the room to start with. It's a very peaceful, zen-like hotel. There are six quite big pools and during our 8 nights stay, there was never more than 6 people on the infinity pool (which I think is the best). The view is incredible. Air Bar has amazing view and fantastic cocktails and drinks. When it comes to details - in the pool areas, on the way to restrooms there is free of charge sun protector and free of charge water. Every 2-3 hours, the guests on the pool receive a complimentary fruits drink (delicious). The day before the departure, the invoice was put on the bed and everything is very clear and transparent (if you stay often in the hotels, sometimes some positions are not clear - here the invoice is very simple which I like). Two very good restaurants, especially The Flames. The room are very spacious and well planned. I love it. If you need peace, quiteness, zen-like environment - this place is for you. Hotel offers lots of attractions for those who need more activities.

Hotel is very private and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing stay. The food was delicious and good quality. All of the staff were warm and welcoming, always smiling and happy to help with recommendations and information. Khun Dow, who gave us a small elephant bracelet as a gift for our anniversary. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really made us feel special. When we entered the room, the bed was beautifully decorated and there was a small cake prepared for us as a welcome. The room was spotless, and in the evening the housekeeping even did a turndown service for us, even though we had only checked in not long before. We were genuinely impressed by the attention to detail and overall service. It made our stay even more memorable.

Intercontinental is such a wonderful and hospitable resort! The staff were incredible, detail oriented, and incredibly thoughtful. I especially enjoyed my massage with Koy at the spa - I start off the trip so relaxed! I would love to come back here again.

I can't understand how this hotel gets such good reviews. The restaurants are a complete disaster, and the same goes for the service. I told the restaurant I don't eat pork, and they brought me a salad with bacon... and this happens all the time. The service is simply nonexistent. The rooms need renovation. The restaurant has virtually no alternatives to pork. Two days, pork was the only meat available for breakfast. Overall, the hotel is not worth a visit. It's a sad place for children here. The kids club is very weak and uninteresting. They took our beach bag! 😂 Right as we were leaving the hotel. They said their beach bags would go to the next guests. This is a truly amazing place. It's really weird that the Intercontinental has a hotel like this.

Beautiful large hotel complex with breathtaking views and very friendly staff, especially at breakfast and at the pool bar. Unfortunately, the overall service does not meet a 5-star standard. The management, especially Jan, came across as extremely unfriendly. The reception staff hardly ever smile and are not very helpful, for example when it comes to booking excursions. When I asked Monica something once, I received a rather rude response. She never smiled. I have spent holidays in many 5-star hotels on Samui, but I have never experienced such poor service — both from a management perspective and in terms of general guest support. The lack of assistance when booking excursions was especially disappointing. In general, we had to discuss and argue about many things because we constantly received different answers. Services and arrangements that had been promised by our travel agency were initially refused by the hotel. Manager Jan even gave us a lecture instead of trying to find a solution together with us. Her behaviour was extremely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. She clearly does not know how to handle guest feedback or guests in general The food in the restaurants also does not match the quality we know from other 5-star hotels. Requests are sometimes only handled after several hours and then fulfilled poorly. Guests staying for a longer period are not treated in a special or appreciative way either – many things have to be asked multiple times. A real pity, because the hotel itself has great potential.

After travelling across Asia and staying in several InterContinental properties, arriving in Koh Samui already felt truly special—but what we experienced here went far beyond expectations. The level of hospitality and genuine guest focus is exceptional and clearly sets this resort apart from other five-star hotels. From the very first moment, it felt like coming home to a beloved family. Every detail—no matter how small—was handled with sincere care and warmth, turning each moment of our stay, from the heartfelt welcome to the gracious farewell, into something truly memorable. We will miss staying here next year due to the scheduled major renovation—but this only deepens our anticipation of returning afterwards to experience it all over again. Our heartfelt thanks go to the entire team for creating such a warm and special atmosphere. Special recognition goes to the General Manager, Jane Soergel, whose leadership clearly shines through, to Khun Lek for her indispensable support in critical moments, as well as to our truly wonderful and attentive Club hosts Khun Lisa and Khun Son-O, and the exceptionally polite and impressive trainee Khun Porgy.
