"Horrible, dirty, smelly and not safe"

The location was horrible, extremely dirty & smelly. Parking lot was very dark. I called booking.com because I was looking for help/a refund to rent another location, but it was not very helpful. Very unsatisfied with the hotel and with booking.com

Chicago Willowbrooke Laquinta location: There was a big crack under our door in which you can see straight in the room from the hallway if you bent down, pubic hair was in the shower, holes in sheets on both beds, cobwebs in the corners of the room. Oh and they had a broken iron board that fell apart when we tried to open it to iron our clothes. And the front desk staff was extremely rude and had the worst attitude I have ever experienced at a Laquinta. The desk clerk from the overnight shift told us that we can have a late check out for 12 noon and anything after 12 noon would be a fee but the next morning we received a knock at the door saying it’s time for checkout and we explained that we requested late checkout and the person at the door tried to tell us that late checkout is 1130 and anything after that is a $20 fee but when we would not agree he then got an attitude and stated okay ma’am I am not charging you so I asked for a receipt to show that my deposit would be returned onto my card and he responded stating that I did not charge you ma’am but I can charge you and then give you a receipt. Just rude with no customer service.

The property was so sketchy from the people there and from me just getting this weird feeling and seeing things in the middle of the night not up to date very old school haunted creepy 0/10 a motel is better than this

Let me start by saying my husband and I are NOT picky about hotels. We stay in cheap ones all the time and have NEVER had a real issue. Our room had a horrendous smell, and there was a little machine sitting in the desk (we googled it; it was for removing smell from porous surfaces). I went to the front desk immediately to ask for a room change, and they denied me and brushed me off. Right after this, housekeeping entered without knocking to retrieve the little machine. We went to the concert we came for, and hoped that the smell would be aired out when we returned. It did not. In retrospect, I should’ve demanded a refund in the first five minutes, but we were traveling with friends and they drove so I didn’t want to make a fuss. Long story short, the smell was so bad we couldn’t sleep, and we left the hotel at midnight and paid for another room in a different hotel across the street. I wish I could explain how bad this smell was or what it could have been, but I’ve never experienced anything like it. The more I reflect on the experience, the more annoyed I am that the staff didn’t even care or try to help. The man I spoke to when I requested a new room was irritated and not wanting to deal with me at all.
