Ventura Beach House Motel

Nice management, clean, no-frills but in a good way. No riff-raff hanging around the premises like some other similar properties, just a nice old-time CA motel run by nice folks. Quiet and convenient.

Great place. Reasonable and clean

Bed comfy and sheets nice. Fridge and coffee maker with microwave. Hot water with good pressure. Very old school motor court with parking right outside the door. Nice area close to downtown. Looked freshly painted inside.

However, the room smelled like old smoke and was VERY disappointing in that regard. I really regretted that and would not have booked it had I known, even though the room was a good value otherwise, especially for this part of California. The carpet is probably 50 years old and I felt like if they would just take that up and not allow smoking it would be great. The carpet WAS ALSO FILTHY DIRTY and I attach a photo of the bottom of my freshly washed feet just from walking around the room barefoot for an hour before bed. The male owner or manager did have a slight attitude about him at first, when I questioned nicely at check-in whether there was good hot water and AC. He did allow me to check the room out first and that was when I smelled the smoke but at that point and with his demeanor I was not going to get into a show down about a non-refundable reservation so I just sucked it up when he finally got the AC compressor to kick in and turn on to cool the room. Honestly, if they would just change their carpet I think the room would have been very pleasant. That carpet probably held everything that made it disgusting. I’m used to budget motels, but this was unacceptable.

Very comfortable and worth the price

I live about 100 miles from thus hotel, a friend and I were going to crash after a concert and we didn't feel comfortable staying so we drove home after the show and didn't stay.

Great price. Excellent location near beaches and restaurants. Large room and clean bathroom. Parking close to room so no need to haul luggage long distance.

It was all good on my two day stay.

Very comfortable bed.

They gave me a room that had just had the carpet cleaned earlier that day, so the carpet was still damp. Very inconvenient for the price I paid. If that was the only room available, I should’ve been given a discount for the inconvenience.
