"Fraud"

2.0

The hotel triple charged me and sold my credit card info for frauding me. One formal and proper charge was charged through agoda for $200.42 on 23 Dec 2024. One for so-called damage for $287.50 on 30 Dec 2024. One for no reason and no receipt for $369.00 on 16 Jan 2025. My husband and I only stayed there one night, checking out on 28 Dec 2024 and not informed of ANY damage when checking out and were happy customers till today. We found there were these two follow up charges just today because we found another 3 transactions by the brand name of Hilton (so lucky to be the same?) in past three months in Feb through April for $1,807.18 total, which the final one being so large that finally caught our attention. Oh and by the way, when you call their front desk, they will keep transferring your call to Dylon Patson who never picks up and you call back, they will keep hanging up your call and/or transferring you to the same lady who never picks up. All you can do is to dispute the charges with your credit card issuing bank and hope to get some fairness

"Its not what it was in the past"

We love this hotel.. but we had a few issues: the hot air did not reach the bathroom, so it was frigid; the curtains did not block the light at night; and the TV was unplugged when we arrived

Lovely, quiet hotel in the midst of New Haven. Clean, charming, most of all: quiet.

"Perfect Throwback Hotel"

10.0

This may be my favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The theming stays on topic down to the Handsome Dan carpeting in the hallways without being gauche. The room was very clean and quaint, full of lovely paintings. Staff were friendly. The interior cafe was beautiful with the chandeliers and little nods to Yale down to the Taft chair. It was in perfect walking distance to the campus and many museums and restaurants. My only complaint would be how loud the nightlife sometimes got but with it being in the heart of a college town, that’s to be expected.

"Nice, But Won't Be Staying Here Again."

6.0

Let's get this out of the way: the hotel has a nice vibe with friendly staff and it's very clean. Three really important things I look for in a hotel. As a Hilton Diamond member, I prioritize staying at Hilton properties. In past visits to New Haven, I stayed at The Study (right next door to The Graduate). I won't be staying at The Graduate again and here's why: The building is cute and definitely vintage. Think of a place where your grandparents would have stayed when bringing your parents to college way back in the day. However, in updating the rooms and building, the developers and designers made a few poor decisions. The flooring on the fifth floor is janky and sloping. I felt like I was on a ship in the middle of a storm, as the floor was so uneven and sloping, it was near disorienting. And it's not subtle. It's quite extreme when considering modern building construction. The suite I was "upgraded" to was nothing more than a single room with the most uncomfortable wing-back chair and couch I have ever sat on. But to make matters worse, there was absolutely no power available at the desk. None! The two available plugs were tucked-in behind the desk and both in use. I had to plug in my laptop and phone on the nightstand. And with the plugs built into the side of the nightstand, any movement of the pillow would knock the laptop power plug onto the floor. People, it's 2025!!! Multi-plug stations at desks are a must. We all travel with laptops, tablets and phones to plug in. Most importantly, the room doors on the floor were not level, leaving an inch-plus gap at the bottom. Personally, this is a HUGE safety concern. Thinking of solo female travellers (of which I am not one), I would not want my wife or daughters in a room where people can see their presence through the space at the bottom of the door. Regardless of modest privacy, one can clearly see if the lights are on or off in the room, and even see the feet of people walking in the room, if they happen to pass by the door. I noticed this when I checked-out this morning, seeing someone behind the door at the end of the hall. Major issue, IMO. The WiFi in the room was decent, but down in the lobby (a really enjoyable place to people watch!) where I chose to work was abhorrent. See the SpeedTest in the image attached, which shows a download speed of 8 Mbps. Again, it's 2025!!! Enough said. In closing: Nice and clean hotel with friendly staff, but the issues above are red flags. It's back to The Study for me!

"Cute & Comfortable Hotel Close to Yale"

8.0

We enjoyed staying here. The hotel is close to Yale. The rooms were really well decorated and nice, and the Yale theme was fun. The beds were comfortable. There was some street noise in the morning, but it wasn’t bad. We went to the bar and the service was friendly - it was a good option. The cafe downstairs is super cute with a number of pastry/breakfast and coffee selections and a decent amount of seating, but it was way understaffed when we went down in the morning. There was one person working the whole operation and while she was phenomenal and also very nice, she should have had at least one coworker helping her. The line was long and some people wound up having to leave it because the wait took too long. As mentioned in another review, there are stairs into the hotel and also there is no one working the door, so you do have to manage your luggage. I would definitely stay here again.
