Baymont by Wyndham Downtown Detroit

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Detroit. It is posted in the Lobby that this property is owned and operated by Motor City Lodging, Inc. under a license by Baymont Inn & Suites. I believe Baymont should take their name off of this property. Even as we drove up, it did not look inviting. The staff greeted us nicely. They were great during our stay. I would not have stayed if I had come alone. My friend suggested we could do two nights here. We had to cross the parking lot to get to our room. As we opened the door to enter that section, we were hit with an unpleasing aroma of maybe smoke, urine, and musty carpet. As we walked down the corridor, the aroma just got deeper into our noses. As we entered our room, we noticed that the smell was also in it. Thank God for Febreze and OdoBan. I was ready to go, but my friend insisted we tough it out. Day one wasn't too bad because we weren't in the room too long. Day two was the hardest because we had to walk that corridor more times than we wanted. All was not bad. The staff was great and accommodating. Our beds seemed clean (sheets & spreads). The bathroom was clean, and the shower was great. The overall atmosphere seemed that we were in the wrong place, but the staff and some of the tenants made us feel comfortable for the stay.

My check in was wonderful experience. Although I arrived way to early lMarsharay was awesome. And Ms. Darlene was quick and wonderfully accommodating. They filled my experience with kindness and respect which is rare these days. Thank you ladies. I experienced the beautiful Mt. Elliott Park and was in luxury (The River Walk) is around the corners❣️
