"Total Perfection"

10.0

It’s not often you find a hotel which ticks all the boxes and is impossible to fault. This is certainly one. From the warm welcome on arrival to our regretful departure a week later, we enjoyed a level of friendly, attentive and efficient hospitality which is all too rare nowadays. Maison Dedine is just what the name implies: more a home than a hotel – except that very few homes enjoy such opulence, comfort and abundance of fine (and often quirky!) artworks. Our superior room was the ultimate in luxury, with a stunning view of the Gulf and the marina in the foreground. All the usual five-star facilities were there, including bathrobes and slippers, gold-plated bathroom fittings, deluxe toiletries, a sitting area with comfortable chairs, an even more comfortable king-size bed with several pillow options, minibar, coffee-maker, kettle and wide-screen TV. It was fully serviced twice a day, including ‘bedtime treats’ on our return each evening. In fact, service throughout the day was perfect. Sana leads a truly remarkable team – always anxious to respond to your every wish. Breakfast was a magnificent spread – a wonderful range of Tunisian specialities, as well as, for the more cautious, terrific omelets and creamy scrambled eggs. Freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee were exemplary. Dinner is only provided by prior arrangement, but if they offer you a menu gastronomique from their private chef, don’t hesitate! It was a superb succession of 3-star Michelin-style dishes, perfectly balanced and expertly served. One of the best meals we have enjoyed anywhere, ever! The location, literally on the seafront, is perfect, and the walk to upper Sidi Bou Said is easier than we expected. It’s a 15-minute stroll up a steepish, but quiet, road which turns into a cobbled street leading into the picturesque village. Alternatively, there are 365 steps from behind the marina. Or, for the lazy or unfit, there are plenty of taxis. Sidi Bou Said is, of course, one of the most attractive spots in Tunisia, and is worthy of more than a simple day trip. Maison Dedine is not just the best place to stay. It is surely one of the top hotels in the country.

"outstanding stay, with a breakfast to die for"

10.0

my stay at maison dedine is something I will remember for a long time to come - what an intimate stay, exquisite decor, and one of the best breakfast spreads I have seen and tasted in my life. everything just oozes of high quality and details to attention. big kudos to the maison staff for such an excellent job in delivering the service. the property is located within the gated community, and one of the perks of staying here is you can drive eastwards, all the way up to the little hill overlooking sidi bou said. there is a small parking lot at the top of the hill. if I am lucky enough to visit Tunis again, this will be the place I will return to.

The reviews on TripAdvisor don’t lie - this hotel is an excellent experience. We stayed two nights between Christmas and New Years in 2022 and it was a great experience. Beautiful rooms, exquisite beds, stunning views, and great service make for an unforgettable stay.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. A little piece of heaven in Tunisia. Delightful staff. Views that didn’t end. My room was amazing and beautifully decorated. The design and art was whimsical and yet elegant. Sana and the entire staff was a delight.

"Extraordinary service with a smile!"

10.0

Superb boutique hotel in a superb location. It doesn’t get much better when you wake up and open the curtains to see the sunrise over the sea! The breakfast is of excellent quality. You share the long table with other guests which makes for an interesting start of the day. The rooms are superbly decorated with modern art and the beds are comfortable. But no hotel is perfect and Maison Dedine is no exception: the lights over the washing table are truly insufficient and the noice of the wind during the night was quite strong. But that was all forgotten when seeing the lovely smiles on the faces of the entire staff!

This is a really beautiful converted house with just a few rooms. Lovely location, art work and a couple of good restaurants in the small fishing port down the road. Ons looked after me and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

"Probably the best in Tunisia…"

10.0

The highlight of our hotel experience in Tunisia and so happy we kept it for the end of our trip! After staying at the Dar El Jed in the beginning and the Anantara Tozeur in the middle, I can honestly say that Maison Dedine beat them both hands down! For starters, the service is impeccable. We arrived at 2am (due to a 9hr delay from Tunis air in Tozeur) and were greeted with a smile and ushered to our room. The lovely host said “no need for formal check in, you are at home now”. And it’s true, staying at Maidon Dedine feels like staying in a home; a luxurious, amazing one! The common spaces are amazing and the views are to die for! You are right in front of the sea and with just 5 rooms the place feels very intimate. The pool is sublime and if you want, you can jump in the sea right from the comfort of the hotel. The breakfast is something to look forward to every day. Just miles ahead of the other hotels and just so well executed. The owner of the hotel is a decorator and she has a truly amazing eye for detail; everything in the hotel combined luxury and modern elements with traditional Tunisian touches. All in all I can’t recommend this place enough and would love to come back!

"Small hotels don’t get any better than this"

10.0

Restrained, relaxed, opulence: these are the first words that come to mind. But then I think warmth, friendliness, effortless service. This is the best small hotel I have ever stayed in; a superb location where you can hear the Mediterranean Sea lapping at the shore, looking across the bay to the mountains with the thriving village of Sidi Bou Said only 5 minutes away. Breakfast is delicious with a range of Tunisian specialities, fresh juices and excellent coffee. The whole hotel is filled with beautiful objets d’art, books you can browse in and beautiful spaces to relax in both inside and out. The infinity pool is stunning. Nothing is too much trouble for staff who can arrange everything you might want. With the beach 5 minutes walk down the road, and a range of ancient sites within easy reach this is perfection.
