Hyatt Place Chicago Hoffman Estates

The hotel is dirty; the carpets and furniture are old, and the TV doesn't work. There is no microwave, and the air conditioner is so loud that you won't be able to sleep. The bathroom is tiny—you have to stand on the toilet just to close the door. The lobby reeks of chlorine—it’s so strong, like an open vat of the stuff, that it stings your eyes. The food isn't great. There are a lot of intoxicated people around. I chose the hotel based on reviews—there were a suspiciously large number of positive ones—but in reality, it’s barely a one-star establishment.

The location was perfect for us and the atmosphere was perfect too, nice and not so congested. The room was big and I felt comfortable with having a couch in the room. The value was reasonable and not too expensive. The cleanliness in the room was kept up very well for those 3 days we stayed. The service was excellent; the staff was very helpful and always willing to answer any questions. I was happy to find out that they had an ice-cream popsicle as I was craving for ice-cream and instead of going out again after dinner, they surprised me with an ice-cream popsicle!!! It saved me a trip to have to go out again, it made my night to relax and enjoy the popsicle. Thank you!

We selected this hotel because it is close to St. Alexius Hospital where my wife was scheduled for a total knee replacement on Monday, 6/22/26. Her doctor told her she would remain in the hospital 1 - 2 nights. We checked in on 6/21/26 and booked the room for a 6/24 check out. Tuesday morning she learned that she would be discharged on Tuesday, so I checked out of the hotel thinking we would be charged for two nights. I was told that the bill would be emailed to me, which never happened. I was able to retrieve the bill through the corporate website. I discovered that I was being charged for the third night! I contacted your hotel and spoke with the person working the front desk and was told that I had to provide 48 hours notice to change a reservation. Terrible policy. There are several hotels in the area to choose from. We won't be staying at the Hyatt Place for her post-op follow up visits.

Great location and excellent customer service. The Front desk person that was working Saturday morning is a rockstar. She makes sure the every guest was taken care of and that the breakfast area was clean.

I recently stayed at another Hyatt in a different part of the country and there was a night and day difference. This hotel was more run-down, staff wasn't as friendly, and things just didn't work in this hotel. The right side elevator broke multiple times while we were there and the lights for the buttons didn't work. Inside the elevator, the flooring was coming up creating a tripping hazard. Regarding breakfast, a second waffle station would be a huge improvement. It takes 2:30 minutes to make a waffle, probably close to 4 minutes by the time some nitwit figures out how to work it. If there are multiple people in front of you, it could be an 8-12 minute wait for free breakfast. The paper plates and plastic utensils from Walmart made the experience even less impressive. The pool was nice and clean. Having some towels available downstairs by the pool would have been nice though. Upon check-in, I confirmed that my room was not near an elevator and was told it was halfway down the hall. It was in-fact one room away from the elevator and unfortunately kept me up at night. The trash in the hallways overflowed each day, and dirty plates/bowels remained on the table outside the elevator for half the day. The light in our bathroom was extremely dim and the fan did not work in the bathroom. Also, the tile in the shower was coming off the wall. The couch cushion was coming apart on one side and the pullout bed was so uncomfortable that my 8 year old refused to sleep on it. The air conditioning was unable to keep the room cold during the night. Also, the bed was so close to the A/C vent that the cold air is unable to reach the other side of the room. The television reception was terrible as well, only a handful of channels even worked. The location was convenient and in a safe location. Parking was easily accessible. I won't be staying at this hotel again.

Reserved a double room online as an Hyatt member and when we arrived it was “unavailable” so we were put in a single king bed room. I’m mostly bothered that if the room wasn’t available, it shouldn’t have been offered online. The bed was very uncomfortable, bathroom was very small, and when we got there all the lights were on, TV was blaring, and couch cushions were on the floor. Just odd. The man at the check in was very kind. Overall not the worst, but definitely not the best experience and we won’t return next time.
