Kimpton George Hotel by IHG

Lovely trip! Amazing location!!

This was a 3 night family girl’s trip and we had a great time. The George has a great location and our rooms were great. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms were spacious . Minifridge was nice. Towels were changed daily. When I checked in, I found my heater was very loud . The woman at the front desk said she’d have an engineer look at it. She also said she’d have to send an engineer to explain how to use the room safe. Very friendly but certainly information that should have been readily available in the room ! After my museum visit, I called back since 4 hours had passed and the noise was very loud. Terence could hear it over the phone so he promptly moved me to a quieter room down the hall. Much appreciated. His restaurant recommendations were great. We found the wine hours disappointing ( not even a chip or nuts), but the wine was good and served in small portions. The Continental Breakfast was handy but inferior to what one would expect, had the restaurant been open. The carpet in the lower level and stairs leading to the fitness center and rest rooms were due to be vacuumed, otherwise I’d give it 4 1/2 stars but dirty floors in a public area 3 days straight, are inexcusable. The lobby and room hallways were clean. I’d return without hesitation when the restaurant gets reopened.

Good location for my needs. Less costly than other hotels. Room was spacious. Staff went out of their way to help me to get a taxi.

Many things were a bit tired or worn. Sofa in particular was sagging. There was a bit of an undefined odor at one end of the room, but it was far from the bed and I spent little time there.

Room smelled of smoke everytime the aircon kicked in.

Location is super accessible to walk to everything in the Capitol area and two blocks from Union Station. The hotel was very comfortable. It was nicely designed, and the staff was extra friendly. I really liked the staff here. The rooms had a mini fridge, which I appreciated too for chilled drinks.

I really disliked the glass bathroom door. They were sliding barn doors with big gaps that did nothing to block any sound in the bathrooms. It's fine if you're travelling alone, but otherwise it can be super awkward with a friend. Because the restaurant is being remodeled, breakfast was an ultra simple continental breakfast. I wish they had provided a microwave down there or at least more tea options. They had green tea only two days in a row and no microwave anywhere available.
