Beaches Chalets

Staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the chalets was ideal for us having a dog, being a short walk over the road to the dog friendly beach. Also a car park and grass area in front of the chalets so we were set back from the road. Chalet was clean and there was a lovely greeting box of biscuits, apple, orange etc. washing up liquid, cloths were provided which saves having to take them and tea, coffee, sugar and milk were also provided. The bed was large and very comfortable and towels provided.

The chalet blocks were obviously part of the Pontins complex and we could understand why the hotel would try this venture but although the chalet was clean and plenty big enough for the two of us it was way over priced for what it was and a bit of TLC would go a long way. There were blinds at the windows which were stiff to pull up and down resulting in the cable breaking, which I reported (some chalets had curtains which would have been a lot better) the hot tap in the kitchen constantly dripped, the shower head, hose and bar could do with being replaced as the head kept slipping down, otherwise the bathroom was nice. The bed was big (and comfortable) so there was no room for side tables but a shelf either side would have been good just to put phones, glasses and a drink on. Also there were no sockets in the bedroom, or if there were, we didn’t find them. There was a dressing table at the foot of the bed which left no room to move and couldn’t be used as a dressing table so was a waste of space. The kitchen work area was tiny with the microwave on a shelf next to the sink with the kettle and toaster perched on top. Surely a health and safety issue but there was nowhere else for them to go, also there was only one double socket for all three plus what appeared to be quite an old electric double ring hob plate. Cooking anything in my mind would have been quite dangerous let alone easy. Under the shelf was an open space which was wasted. It wouldn’t take a lot of money to rework the kitchen area and make it more user friendly. The tub chairs were ok but not overly comfortable, a small sofa would have been nice. To us it felt like they had found furniture and just put it in. It just needed a bit more thought and definitely wasn’t worth the £131 a night we paid. If it had been £60 to £70 per night then we wouldn’t have expected any more than what it was. Would we go again, yes, but not at those prices. 4 star hotel which looked lovely, but only 2 star chalets.

Great location for the beach and the beaches hotel had lovely food and the pool facilities where perfect as open all day everyday

Overall, the chalet was clean. However, as someone who notices the little things, there were cobwebs everywhere and unfortunately there were a pair of dirty underwear which didn't not belong to me or my husband!

The staff were very pleasant, helpful and polite. The swimming pool was perfect to relax in. The accommodation was very fit for purpose and in a great quite location.

Looking onto the old Pontins but there is nothing you can do about that, so there wasn't enything bad.
