Sunset Chalet

Lovely chalet in a beautiful area. Great location! Loved reading about the owners. We are from Canada so it was interesting to read that the owners have a Canadian connection

Lovely chalet, very peaceful

Little dusty and crowded with additional decor

We loved the location of the property and although we didn’t have a view of the lake from our deck it was a peaceful area and we could walk from our yard to the trail to go right into town the Church. The unit itself was very nicely appointed. The shower was awesome. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Nothing

The chalet was absolutely stunning, we walked in and were immediately impressed with the room and how cosy it felt. The main room had two armchairs and a table which were very comfortable to sit in, in the evening with a hot chocolate. There was also the bed (again very comfortable with very clean linen) and kitchenette. The kitchenette had a stovetop, refrigerator and bar stool seating area. There was plenty of kitchenware which suited our needs and which we were able to use to enjoy a cooked meal. The bathroom was excellent, the shower had great water pressure and hot water, the toiletries provided were also great! The location was perfect, a short walk took us directly to the Lake and to the Church of the Good Shepherd and just a bit further was a 4 square. We used the chalet as a base to explore the Mount Cook National Park which was absolutely the perfect decision as the drive from the chalet was relatively short and also allowed us to see the sights on the way. The owners had helpfully provided a brochure about walks in the Mount Cook area as well.

Our only regret was not staying longer, if we ever came back to the South Island of New Zealand we would definitely stay at the Sunset Chalet again! I would say if you are travelling in a larger group than a couple the other property maintained by the owners may be a better fit, it's on the same site and looked great too!

Wonderful chalet and the heat pump was on when we arrived which is very considerate in winter. Likewise the heater in the bathroom meant the whole place was toasty. We liked that there was an actual table and chairs to eat at, as well as a bench area with bar stools. They have fit a lot in to a good sized space. Perfect for a couples get away or of passing through Lake Tekapo.
