Sunset Chalet

Located in the high streets give the cottage sunset views across the lawn and common walkway from the main road. Very comfortable bed, pillows and linen and ample kitchenette for breakfast toast and cereal. Owners added an oil heater on day 2 as we found the airconditioning heating not being able to take the chill from the room. Much appreciated for the extra effort to do this by the owners who live out of town. Great shower and toilet area heated for winter and everything you could need. 1km from the main shops and supermarket and in warmer weather it would be a nice walk. Plenty of options in Lake Tekapo at the $250 night rate and this place as our second visit to the area was nice for privacy compared to previous multi unit 5-Star B&B we stayed at.

No long life milk for tea or coffee, so popped to shops to look after our needs for two days. The self satchel latte with hot water is good.

A bit cool

Location - Great location to explore Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook and surrounding areas Hosts - very helpful and kind. They were willing to meet me halfway on a very late request from me. They did not have to do this. Chalet - very nice and cozy. High quality items provided in the chalet If I go back to Lake Tekapo, Sunset Chalet will be my first choice.

Wifi is not strong and it took my phone some time to detect the network.

The property is neat and nice but we didn’t get to stay.

The power gets overloaded easily that is we cannot on the hob together with the heater. We checked in around 3 pm and was preparing snack when the power went off. The host got someone to come down and check (this was like after an hour)! The power switch board is in another unit and was inform by the host that we cannot on the hob and heater together. We were worried and asked what happened the power goes off in the middle of the night ! The host wasn’t very friendly and helpful. Finally we decided to move to another place.

Clean and comfortable

Good location

Everything was exceptional. Most comfortable bed, best shower, cosy atmosphere. Provisions left to cook for yourself. The hosts Marie & Peter have left nothing wanting.

Was close to town you can walk, very comfortable and clean. Highly recommend.

Nothing that we didn’t like, just suggestions, it be great to have a sheer curtain on the sliding door that can still let light in but provide some privacy from the neighbours and those on the walking track. Bigger fridge would be great for those staying more than a night.

Amazing chalet, that was very well equipped with everything you might need. Lovely deck area to sit and watch the stars. Plenty of spare towels and hot water. Very quiet and peaceful. Easy walk to centre of Lake Takepo alongside the river.

Shared garden area with next door. Would have been nice to have a larger seating area in the garden to have been able to admire the lake.

Quiet, reasonablely well appointed. Milk and wine thoughtful.

No tea or coffee. BBQ was dirty, had to clean it before we were able to use it. Veranda had not been swept.
