"Picture Perfect Cape"

10.0

We were fortunate to enjoy a sunny May weekend at CBI. The rooms are spacious and very functional. The views of the harbor from the property are really wonderful and they do the best job landscaping. It’s picture perfect. We ate at the beach grill twice and it was fantastic - beautiful setting, good food, and great drinks. Servers were friendly.

"10/10 on all fronts"

10.0

I was very pleased with Chatham Bars Inn on all fronts— location, spaciousness and cleanliness of room, breadth and condition of gym facilities, wifi strength, ambience and, most of all, service i have never seen so many bellboys at a hotel, all energetic and proactively helpful. Only minor issue was front area does not receive cars and there are many steps to get to lobby

"Amazing experience"

It was an amazing experience from start to finish. They delivered a truly five‑star stay—one that lives up to the reputation, not just the marketing and hype. Absolutely beautiful hotel and location.

"Stunning beachfront hotel with prices to match"

8.0

This is a beautiful classic New England hotel with lovely landscaping wonderful Vera‘s and outdoor dining spaces as well as an outdoor pool and private beach setting. The poolwas quite overcrowded and the meal service there was slow. But the beach facility was lovely. We ate at two of the restaurants and the of the food and service was excellent. We stayed at a spa room which I wouldn’t recommend because of the extraordinary expense and we didn’t end up using the features. The spawas a rather strange layout. I’ve certainly been in much better ones. However, the private spa pool was lovely and a quiet break. Really overall an outstanding Hotel with extremely well trained staff. My only caveat is that it was the whitest wealthiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. And I’ve certainly stayed at a lot of extremely high-end luxury hotels in Europe, but they didn’t feel as insular. I prefer a little more diversity..

"Such a disappointment!"

2.0

We were sadly disappointed in our recent stay at CBI, which we have loved for years. We have now learned that on peak summer weekends, CBI transmogrifies from a luxury resort into a large scale wedding factory, crammed to the rafters with people everywhere & essentially no access to all the wonderful amenities for regular hotel guests. Here is our experience: Notwithstanding that our ordinary room in the main building cost almost $1500 per night (!), we could not: (i) find two seats for us at cocktail hour anywhere in the hotel, inside or out; (ii) had to wait in a line of 25 people deep at the outside bar to get a glass of wine; (iii) were unable to get a table in any of the dining locations for dinner with a wait of less than 2 1/2 hours (because its first come, first served and no reservations except main dining room which was sold out), so had to venture out to some random place in Chatham in the rain; (iv) could not get the tennis shop to call us back for several days prior to our visit in a vain attempt to register for a tennis clinic or get time with a pro. We finally visited the tennis shop in person to learn that almost all the slots were taken up by non-resort guests or local club members - literally there was only one guest registered, everyone else taking up the capacity was not staying at the resort. Truly what is the point of paying all that money and then not getting to enjoy the hotel???? The only saving grace was Roy the amazing concierge, who, after a heartfelt plea to save our disappointing weekend, magically procured a table for our family lunch on Sunday, thereby saving Father’s Day for us. CBI needs to learn from the practices of true 5 star resorts, which set aside reservations/appointments for resort guests and maintain a waitlist for non-guests, and then only release the capacity to non-guests if its not needed by guests. (And please, please straighten out the tennis pro shop management, that is truly amateur hour.)

"A Fake Facade"

2.0

It’s beautiful on the outside but once you get in the room - we found disgusting woman’s belongings in a very old not very clean, uneven floor, ridiculously TINY room that we can barely move around , refillable bottled water had something floating in it, a terrible view of the all the mechanical units as well as the restaurants ventilation systems on the balcony with surrounding next rooms. The opening days/times of their restaurants were ridiculous & the food was mediocre with same limited menu. We were offered one free night by the manager & option to move to another room but he not only didn’t contact us back til we had to, he denied the offer & only given $200 off concessions at the end. Also the staff must be underpaid because most of them seem stressed & not pleasant

"Love at first sight."

A beautifully maintained resort. Pricey but worth every penny. The beach was clean and beautiful worth laying and getting some sun. Absolutely loved the constant sea breeze.

"Absolutely one of my favorite places"

10.0

I've been to resorts all over the world and this is one of my favorites. It's pricey so not sure I can go rushing back. But the property and gardens and views of the ocean are impeccable. Rooms were comfy with a gorgeous view. There are so many activities to choose from and it's an easy walk to one of the prettiest towns on the Cape, Chatham. There are great restaurants on property and off, and there's one of the best old movie theaters to walk to as well. The beach is beautiful, but maybe not at low tide. The pool is wonderful, if too windy on the beach. It's definitely worth taking a shuttle out to Monomoy Island or using their cars to ride up to Provincetown. What I love most if that instead of being gated off and separated from the community, the resort is right in the heart of Chatham and mixed in with the residences. It's a high end experience but feels more accessible and relaxed than other places.

"Beautiful property but..."

6.0

The property is gorgeous and well-maintained. For the price we paid, however, we had a lot of issues. One day we received no housekeeping. The housekeeper came by one morning to see if we "needed anything." We didn't know that this meant that if we said "no" we would not get housekeeping that day. She never returned later in the day. We only got turn down service one night. At night there were a lot of loud parties with music. The blinds in the bedroom didn't keep the light out so we were up every morning with the sun. The air conditioning was poor so there was little airflow and it was too hot. The pillows were hard. The pool and hot tub closed at 5pm each day. Why? We went out for day excursions and hoped to use the pool when we returned. Also, if people work all day, then want to use the pool, it's closed. We were really annoyed. Service at the pool was on-existent when we finally did get to go. The breakfast buffet was a huge disappointment. We were seated then received no service. We got our food and came back and still no waitress. We had to find someone to bring us coffee, etc. Then she never returned. Finally she came back and said she was new and she didn't know this was her table. I blame a lack of training by the management. The French toast was dry, the omelette had no flavor, there was one omelette chef for a huge line of customers, and there were rotten blueberries in the bowl. There was a sign for overnight oats but there were none. For over $40/person I find this unacceptable. Our ocean view cottage suite was over $1700/night. It barely had an "ocean view." I would definitely call it a partial ocean view since it was across the street behind some buildings. Also our category said that we could have a balcony or patio. Either would have been great for this price. Everyone said we must stay at this property if we were visiting the Cape. I'm sure it was better in the past. I would never stay here again.
