Hyatt Place Boston - Medford

As I have reviewed the property before and loved it for the easy access to all areas as well as excellent staff, I just wanted to add that Jessica Valanzola(Assistant General Manager) and her team are excellent. I really appreciate her efforts in working with me to secure the reservation for the critical stay and the follow up assistance after our stay. She is an incredible asset to the Hyatt Brand. We look forward to our stay in late June 2026!

Paying extra to park

Upon check-in, I was given a room that was already occupied. As a woman traveling alone, imagine how frightening it was to open the door and find men's clothing strewn about! I ran back to the desk, where I was casually told, "Oh, one of our construction workers is living in that room," as if it was no big deal. The hotel is under renovations. I saw this when I booked, and I called to ask if the construction would affect the pool. They said no, and that was true; I was able to swim during my stay. However, I was very upset about this room mixup and because of it I did not feel safe during my stay. At times there were construction workers in the hallways and elevators, carrying 6-packs of beer and propping doors open to party. A staff member called when I got into my new (thankfully, vacant) room and said a manager would reach out to me and "take care of me," but this never happened. Further, I wrote this in my review to the hotel, but it has now been a couple of weeks and I still haven't heard anything, no apology or anything. The free breakfast was nice, with a very helpful attendant in the breakfast room making sure people found what they wanted. There is a parking fee and you have to park in designated spaces.

Great location and good services. Front desk staff was accommodating and offered a quite room as I requested. He also invited me to join the membership to receive more benefits. The breakfast was OK. Romana is very friendly and she made hot chocolate for me upon request.

the hotel

I booked a hotel room and pre paid it for my daughter who is 20 and a Tufts student. The system did not state that she needed to be 21 to check in. She was denied lodging during an emergency. The front desk manager confirmed to me that it was hotel policy she apologized and stated that I was going to be refunded in full. I received a partial refund. I called the hotel. The hotel blames Booking.com and booking.com blames the hotel. I have it in writing that they were going to refund the full amount. No one answers email.

This hotel is "open" during major construction. There was no hot water two of three days of stay and loud drilling noise early Sunday, Mother's Day. Staff did not offer any type of compensation for the poor stay. Avoid this location until construction is done.
