Hyatt Place Secaucus Meadowlands

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If I could give 1000 stars, I would!) We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Hyatt in Secaucus, New Jersey from May 14th–18th. The room was beautiful, and the entire hotel was impeccably clean. The staff truly went above and beyond—big shout out to Camilo, Nia, Savannah, Jeremy, Steven, Daniella, and the Sales Director Lisa. They helped me surprise my husband mid-stay with birthday balloons and an unexpected gift bag full of snacks, and they even allowed us to extend our stay at the last minute without needing to change rooms. The breakfast setup was fantastic with a wide variety of options, and the bagels were DELICIOUS. The location is also perfect—if you’re looking to go to NYC, the NJ Transit bus picks up right at the back of the hotel, making it easy, convenient, and affordable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special!

The pillows could have been a bit firmer for me but other than that NO COMPLAINTS here definitely rebooking

I chose this hotel because I was a big fan of Hyatt Place and the location was close to NYC. But this particular hotel did not fulfill the Hyatt Place quality. The only good things are the location and the free parking. There is a NJ Transit bus stop right by the hotel, and the garage is big enough for many cars. But that's it. The room was spacious, but I felt that something was different from other Hyatt Place rooms. I cannot describe exactly but I felt something was missing in the design compared to several other Hyatt Place rooms I stayed in the past. Most of all, I had never experienced this much bad customer care experience elsewhere. It might be the central Hyatt guest care's problem. I booked two rooms for one night for my group of 4. We were assigned to the 6 floor. My wife and I were staying in a room while my wife's siblings from overseas in the one right next to us. Although we did not notice the problem at first because we left for NYC right after checking in and dropping our luggage, we smelled some horrible odor that was like rotten fish as soon as we returned to the rooms. It disappeared from my room in a couple hours, but my guests were unable to sleep due to the fishy, ​​rotten odor. In my previous experiences with similar odors, it would have been a dead mouse/rat. My guests were too scared to look under the bed although they assumed the same. Since it was already past midnight and I was in bed, they did not want to call and bother me for this. Neither did they report to the front desk for language barrier. So they just endured overnight. I think they were too nice even though they wasted the precious time of rest because of the horrible room condition. As we were checking out and leaving the next morning, I reported to the front desk staff about this problem and asked her to let me know of the result if something was found. Although two days passed, nobody from the hotel had contacted me. Then, I decided to reach out to hyatt.com's guest care because the local hotel information did not show any customer care option. I reported everything asking for a full refund and the agent guaranteed an investigation. Two days later while I was still on the road in another state, a Hyatt guest care representative emailed me with the result that nothing was found and no refund would be issued. I was just stunned when I read it. Did she mean that I lied about the horrible odor that was not there? Was the rotten fish-like odor non existent? My assumption is that the hotel housekeeping immediately got rid of it when something was found in the room. The day I received the result of their investigation was 5 days after I checked out, and I have a rational doubt that the hotel management was hiding the truth from the main Hyatt guest care staff. This experience caused me to question not only the quality of Hyatt Place Secaucus/Meadowlands in particular but also the reliability of the Hyatt customer care system. They gave me a message that I cannot trust Hyatt. If the hotel claims there was nothing there, does that mean there really was no horrible odor? Would the unbearable stench all four of us smelled together an illusion? Would it have not existed at all? I am sure that there was something decayed somewhere in the room at that time. I acknowledge that it could happen anywhere. But the process of the Hyatt guest care was far below other hotels of the same level. The way they tried to resolve this matter with guests was unacceptable. I am extremely frustrated and upset about the investigation report. I want to ask Hyatt: "Was it the best you could do?" Although I replied to the customer care agent and waited for three days, I have not received any response back until now. I would never recommend this hotel. I am pondering if I should no longer choose any Hyatt hotels in my future travels because of its unreliable customer care.

Staff was very kind! Location was excellent. Parking was free. Bus stop to NYC was right outside the door- was easy to use and convenient. Breakfast was basic but good.
