Plenty of parking

Extremely dated accommodation and the rooms had a stale smell! The rooms and furniture were stained and I wore my shoes all the time due to numerous marks on the carpet! Windows to the garden were filthy- I would avoid this place! I am unsure how many years ago the photos on here were taken but it was not a true reflection of this hotel!!

We like the location, how quiet and peaceful it is. We like that its dog friendly, how clean and comfortable the rooms are and also how welcoming and friendly the staff are.

Not that we didn't like it....but the past couple of times we have stayed, the kitchen has been closed due to renovation work. We have eaten here before and the food was fantastic. But saying that there is another great pub literally 2 mins walk down the canal that is also dog friendly and serves lovely meals.

Very quaint old hotel right on the canal with local pub nearby. Good wifi, good heating in the rooms. Nice continental breakfast. Very helpful staff

Yes the decor is dated - but that adds to the charm

Die Umgebung ist -sobald man das Hotelgelände verlassen hat- wirklich schön, ein Kanal an dem man spazieren kann, ein schöner See mit spannender Vogelbevölkerung und andere toll angelegte Gewässer. Schön angelegte Wege mit grün und vielen hübschen und gut instand gehaltenen Häusern an den Seiten. Gut war auch die Kommunikation mit uns vor dem eintreffen.

Das Zimmer entsprach leider keineswegs dem Eindruck der Fotos bei Booking. Es war insgesamt in einem deutlich abgewohnten Zustand: der Boden war fleckig inkl. eines noch nassen Flecks, ebenso die Tapete, und statt eines Gartenblicks hatte man eher den Blick auf dichtes Gestrüpp. Die Matratze war zudem zu groß für das Bettgestell, und das Bettzeug wirkte lieblos seitlich hineingestopft. Mehrere Löcher in der Wand waren nicht einmal verspachtelt, und auch das Badezimmer machte den Eindruck, seit vielen Jahren nicht mehr renoviert worden zu sein. Das größte Problem war jedoch die Heizung: Diese schien zwar relativ neu zu sein (zu erkennen an den nicht verspachtelten Löchern dort, wo der Vorgänger gehangen haben mochte), war für die Raumgröße aber offensichtlich völlig unterdimensioniert und schaltete sich nach etwa 15 Minuten immer wieder ab. Wir haben verschiedene Einstellungen ausprobiert, ohne Erfolg. Draußen lagen die Temperaturen bei etwa 5 Grad, im Zimmer waren es mit Wohlwollen vielleicht 12 bis 14 Grad. Wir schlafen durchaus gerne kühl, aber das war schlicht nicht zumutbar. Noch in derselben Nacht habe ich deshalb für die verbleibenden zwei Nächte eine andere Unterkunft gebucht. Bei der vorgezogenen Abreise am nächsten Tag um 12 Uhr war niemand vor Ort, unter der an der Rezeption hinterlegten Telefonnummer ging ebenfalls niemand ans Telefon. Auch ein Rückruf erfolgte nicht. Enttäuschend ist zudem, dass der Hotelbetreiber auf Nachfragen über Booking offenbar nicht reagiert. Insgesamt können wir von einer Buchung hier nur abraten.

no cooked meals, which I was told about beforehand. continental breakfast was very nice. staff are always pleasant. its so quiet and nice here love it.

A good location for our visit to The Belfry.

The hotel was tired, needs an awful lot of money spending. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds/mattresses not comfortable. Not helped by fire alarm going off at 8.00am! Kitchen not open so no food and the continental breakfast was poor!
