Pool is great for kids. Location is great. Room service is very fast with all the normal options. Having the bar in the lobby was a nice touch. Also able to check in at noon which was awesome, but probably won’t always be like that

Ok this might be dumb but the milk and OJ in the mornings suck. It’s not fresh, the juice is a tiny little minutemaid bottle and the milk comes in those tiny cardboard boxes we had at school. It’s not even about the money, but paying $9 each for a 25 cent milk carton felt like they were nickel and diming me

Es zog im Zimmer. Warmes Wasser kam in der Dusche nicht immer, selbst nach längerem warten. Für europäische Verhältnisse ist der Preis nicht gerechtfertigt. Man schaut nur aufs Geld.

They have no sauna or steam room. The pool is always full of little kids, which is great, but as adults we felt like we were intruding on families when we went down to the pool, and that's normal because on a trip like that, time at the pool helps keep kids occupied. BUt we just did not feel the facilities were adequate. Also, the coffee at the bar was not particularly great. It had that celery quality to it that is a hallmark of improper roasting/brewing. The staff are all very kind anf friendly though. And the room was very nice and comfortable.

I had the absolute worst experience of my life with TJ. He’s a sexist and misogynistic cancer. Do not stay here if you’re a woman traveling alone- he’s not a safe human and I wish I had recorded my interaction and called 911. Dear Management Team, I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding a serious incident involving your employee TJ during my attempted check-in at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown. I request that this message be immediately escalated to Kristin Duncan, as the conduct I experienced raises significant concerns regarding discrimination, retaliation, and guest safety. During check-in, I politely asked whether an upgrade to a suite or a room with a couch was available. When told none were available, I calmly stated that I would check availability at the Ritz-Carlton before completing my check-in. While I was on the phone trying to secure another option, TJ canceled my reservation without my permission, despite my still being present at the front desk. This action was taken abruptly, without justification, and left me without lodging at night while traveling alone with my three-year-old son. At no point did I raise my voice, violate policy, or behave in an inappropriate manner. What is particularly concerning is the escalating hostility I experienced. From the beginning of the interaction, TJ’s demeanor toward me was aggressive, confrontational, and dismissive. His behavior was so unexpected and disproportionate that I attempted to gently de-escalate by asking if he was okay or if something personal was going on that might explain his demeanor. I asked, calmly and sincerely, whether he was having a very difficult day or dealing with something stressful, because the level of hostility he was directing toward me was so out of proportion that I was trying to understand the cause. Rather than calming the situation, TJ became even more belligerent, and ultimately retaliated by canceling my reservation entirely. His conduct was hostile, discriminatory, and created a serious safety risk for me and my child. When I sought assistance from another staff member, Steven was dismissive and offered no support, leaving me with no safe lodging solution. Because of the seriousness of this incident, I am formally requesting: 1. Immediate contact from senior hotel leadership. 2. Reinstatement of the Marriott Bonvoy points removed from my account. 3. Reissuance of my Rewards Night certificate, which I was unable to use solely due to the wrongful cancellation. 4. Written confirmation that no ban or negative notation exists on my profile. 5. A full internal investigation into the conduct of both TJ and Steven, including review of security footage, reservation activity, and guest-interaction procedures. This situation caused significant emotional distress and placed my young child and me at genuine risk. The conduct I encountered is wholly incompatible with Marriott’s standards of professionalism and guest safety. I look forward to a prompt and thorough response.
