Tuk Tuk Timbul Bungalows

Lots of menu options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, inclduing vegeterian. Location is beautiful, each room has their own free view of the lake! Nice to go in for a morning swim before exploring the island. Staff doesn't speak English well but they are kind and try their best. Spacious rooms.

I think the hotel was lovely when it was opened, but you can feel that it is not maintained. The rooms are not cleaned properly, there are insects and thick spiderwebs everywhere, even in the curtains above the bed. The non superior room ran out of hot water quickly, my partner had to shower in cold water. The second room we stayed in had a bad moldy smell coming from the furniture. The hot water in the superior room was better.

The bungalows are located on the northern side of Tuk-Tuk, away from the denser part of the island with all the resorts. So it's nice and quiet and the view is lovely. It's also just 500m away from the Batak village, which was for us the best Batak-themed thing to visit on the island. The restaurant is good, we had practically all our meals there. The owner helped us reserve the ferry and rent scooters, which were indispensable to visit the island. Our family bungalow had its own water dispenser, a fridge and a stove. Our children enjoyed the playground and swimming in the lake.

Everything was great but for one thing: the beds were not as comfortable as in our other accommodations in Indonesia. But apart from that it's an ideal place.

The bungalows by the lakeside are nice and modern with direct access to the lake. The location is wonderful. Breakfast choices were great and very affordable.

The first night we were in the family house closer to the owner’s property. It requires serious updating and was very simple - especially compared to the other bungalows. In addition, the toilet leaked. Some of the staff at the reception (not the owner) seemed uninterested in serving the customers.

The view is superb. Very relaxing and quiet. Away from the noises. It is quite a calming place to stay, with the lake right in front and the air is clean and cooling. If you go with the right people, you'll have many great chats over great view. Towels provided are sanitised and there's hot and cold water available.

If you are a light sleeper like me, suggest you avoid booking the quadraple superior room because every movement can be heard, like someone going to the toilet or coming down from the stairs.

The smell of mold from the bathroom unfortunately spreads throughout the room. And you can hear everything from the neighbor.
