La Chancelière

Parfait ! Très belle demeure avec mobilier ancien, magnifique vue de la terrasse. Literie de bonne qualité. Hôtes accueillant qui vous mettent à l’aise immédiatement. Petit déjeuner complet, table dressée avec belle vaisselle, serviettes en tissu … À recommander sans hésitation !

We've been here many times, and are never disappointed. Rooms have a quirky feel to them, spacious, idiosyncratic. Glass of sancerre before we went off to dinner, breakfast absolutely gorgeous on the terrace with a wonderful view of Sancerre. Love the fresh orange juice, fruit, croissants etc. Yoghurt to die for. I felt so happy. Welcome as always perfect. This is not a cheap overnight, but worth it

We booked at the last minute, after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. Chancelière is what you expect a B and B in the wine country to be like. The proprietors were charming, friendly and welcome. Lots of nice little touches (fridge with refreshments, generous common areas) and a sweeping view onto Sancerre. This was a short trip but a very nice diversion. Can’t wait to come back, and definitely recommended to others.

From the moment Nicola collected us from the train station, we knew we were in for a treat. The room was delightful and decorated with the most amazing array of artefacts and treasures. We were invited to have wine and aperitifs on the terrace that evening. Again Nicola and Jacques were the most hospitable hosts. Nicola even drove us to nearby towns and on the last night presented me with a bottle of champagne for my birthday. The breakfast is phenomenal. Each day had a different array of crockery. This was an absolute treat. Thank you

We very much enjoyed our stay at Le Chanceliere. Nicole and Jacques are wonderful hosts, as are Calypso and Charly! The breakfasts were the best we had during our holiday. Le Chanceliere is centrally located to visit the domains of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume. Highly recommended!

We absolutely make a point to spend a night there,when in France. The house is beautiful and full of history. The owners are simply amazing and make you feel like family. They offer you wine and snacks when you check in and if the weather allows, you can sit on the terasse and take in the views. Breakfast is totally awesome!! This is truly a gem where you least expect it!! We cannot wait for our next visit.

The moment we arrived we were enchanted. From the lovely gardens and terrace to the charming rooms, to the adorable owners and their sweet dogs, Charlie and Calypso we were smitten with this special place. The owners were patient and informative as we inquired about vineyards, dining options, and directions. The chilled wine on the terrace looking up at the village of Sancerre was a perfect welcoming experience. We highly recommend and will be back! Irene

So this place was very interesting. We arrived by car and the door to the property looks nondescript. It remains unlocked and as you walk in, you are greeted to a beautiful property (which you would never guess was beyond that door as the street it's located on looks and feels like a dark alleyway). The owners were absolutely lovely people. They have two dogs on the property, Calypso and Charlie, who are super sweet and we loved having them join us during breakfast! The rooms are spacious but the bathrooms may or may not entirely be ensuite. Our particular room had an ensuite shower and tub, but the toilet was in a separate room outside of the bedroom and it was SUPER small (could barely turn around). But each room has its own character and differences so just depends on which one you end up with. There's a mini fridge in the hallway with different kinds of non-alcoholic drinks that you can help yourself to. Beds aren't super comfy--not plush but not terrible either. We kind of felt like we were sleeping at our grandparents' home, if that makes any sense. The breakfast is really nice in the way they set it up, bring an assortment of food (yogurt, bread basket, jams, coffee/tea, fresh fruit). We were set up next to the functional fireplace, which was nice during the chilly mornings. The WIFI connection upstairs was not very good; we had to do some work and ended up bringing our laptops downstairs in the common areas so we could have a stronger internet connection. We were treated to a bottle of Sancerre white wine and snacks, free of charge, and that was a really nice touch. Saint-Satur is not really the most happening place but it was an easy enough drive to Sancerre and the surrounding areas.

My husband and I just returned from this lovely place where we rented 3 rooms for 5 people for 3 nights. It was nothing short of an amazing and special treat! We were greeted and checked in by Erin. Nicole and her husband Jacques(the owners) were extremely gracious. Beautiful rooms, fresh pressed french sheets,table cloths and lovely flowers. Nicole arranged for private winery tours and lunch and dinner reservations. When we needed to drop our rental car off Jacques even picked us up and brought us to the train station. This is hospitality at its finest! We would return here again! I was sad to leave this special piece of paradise!
