Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel

Room 36 had a good view of the golf course and was very comfortable. Bed very comfortable and the breakfast very good. Staff all very friendly. Would stay there again.

Very difficult and challenging golf course due the course lay out, gorse bushes and heather. A real test of character for patience, adaptability and skills. Hotel facilities good. Rooms and amenities a bit frayed at the edges due the age of the building. Very attentive staff

My wife and I stayed at the Thorpness hotel and golf club for a two night stay. We had food nowhere else but at the hotel during our stay. On the second night I spent all night at the toilet being sick with food poisoning. I called reception at 2am to report my sickness and warn the hotel how ill I was. At reception the following day they did not acknowledge that I had been ill from food at the hotel and actually charged me for the pleasure, but did say they would make a full investigation. It is now a week later and I have not heard from the hotel with any apology or refund. What a disappointment they have been. We will also add that carpets in the room were dirty needing a spot clean and there was black mould on the tiles in the shower. Not what was expected.

The saving grace for this hotel is the food which is great. We stayed in a dog friendly block which was run down, in a gr fl room. The french door casement wasn't flush so a door chain had been fixed to give more protection. The room, however was quite large. You also get a free bottle of water. We knew the dog charge was £10 p/n because their QR code on the key fob says so. However the carpet very clearly hadn't been cleaned the day befote we arrived. We were also in the room when the cleaner came on our 1st day. They straightened the sheet, put cleaner down the toilet bowl , but nothing else, not even a vacuum or a flick of a cloth. I went to reception to ask what the dog charge was actually for and was told a deep clean . I said there hadn't been any clean dogs, withstanding, as such and that the cleaner revealed that they dont vacuum until you leave !!!. The receptionist said the cost was £15 p/n per dog- and extortionate £120 for a 4 day stay!!!. I said it was not paying for the first night's dog charge anyway and then proceeded to show what the cost was displayed on their website . Was told that 'Marketing' hadn't changed /uploaded the right cost. Notwithstanding, I said we would pay £10 p/ for the 3 days remaining as per their website. Disappointing stay and customer service
