"Very good"

8.0

The owner was very kind to get us some medicine as one of us was sick. Room was basic and comfortable and the jungle setting was lovely; we did hear the Howler monkeys.

The property is located 1 mile down a rough dirt road which some modes of transportation will not drive down. Not many options for eating or getting around if you don't have a car.

"Magical stay in Palenque"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay at Los Susurros and would happily return. We visited Palenque ruins, walked into Palenque town (30 mins) with most of it in a perfectly lit walking path, enjoyed a delicious breakfast and watched fireflies dance in the garden after sunset. The property has lovely gardens that are visited by macaws and other birds. You feel connected to nature in a very comfortable and well-appointed room. A truly magical stay. Recommend visiting the Roberto Barrios Cascades as well.

"Peaceful stay, great breakfast and very convenient for independent travel to Palenque ruins"

8.0

This was a very quiet spot in a garden at the end of a long rough track and away from the main road. The breakfast in particular was fabulous. My wife was unwell on arrival and they offered medicine as well as plenty of water and tea whilst she recovered. It was very easy to walk 10 minutes to the road and get a collective mini-bus to the palenque ruins, and similarly easy to return to the property from the ruins. They ordered a taxi for us to get to the bus station early for our onward journey. There were a couple of restaurants within walking distance for dinner (both italian and offering good food). We enjoyed the many cats and dogs around the property, some of which slept on the bench outside our room overnight. They were doing some great work with rescued spider monkeys.

No shops nearby - would have been useful for rehydration drinks etc.

"Lovely place in Palenque"

10.0

This place is really lovely, a quiet oasis in the jungle on the edge of Palenque town. A semi-detached bungalow was clean and comfortable, breakfast was very good, there are a couple of restaurants for dinner in walking distance. It is only a few minutes drive to the ruins. And there are also the rescued monkeys in their own enclosure in the garden, you can visit them and the staff are happy to tell you more if you are interested.

The dirt access road is narrow and full of potholes. Perfectly doable in a normal car, though, you just have to drive slowly and carefully

Immensly fabulous place, close to the nature but with respective level of services. Strongly recommended for people who loves nature, animals and stronie voces from the jungle.

"Unique chance to interact with monkeys"

7.0

By staying here you are supporting a great cause: rehabilitating rescued monkeys to get back to their natural habitat. The place offers a unique chance to see and interact with howler monkeys and spider monkeys, this was trully amazing. The rooms are clean and the staff cleaning the rooms are very kind people.

The place looks different from the pictures; the wall paint in the rooms, the outdoor benches, the decoration and the kitchen look run-down. The outdoor sofas are being used by cats and dogs for sleeping so they are full of hair and cant be used for sitting down by people. The presence of dogs and cats in the kitchen can be considered by some people as unhygienic. Whereas I enjoyed the presence of animals while eating, the fact that cats walk freely on the kitchen counter, stove and on the tables, makes it unhygienic. On a less important note for the type of place: the WiFi comes and goes, is not reliable, also rooms have no TV.

"Exceptional place to visit"

Chilled animals and people. Great „Lodge“ atmosphere. Worth a trip itself knowing there’s much more to discover left and right

"A comfortable and unique place to spend a couple of days. We enjoyed it!"

8.0

We had a comfortable stay for 2 nights. We liked the location with easy access to Palenque ruins. There were also a couple of restaurants nearby. We had dinner two nights in a row at Paraiso and it was quite good - excellent pizza! Adriana made fresh and hearty breakfasts for us each morning and it was fun chatting with her about her work rescuing the monkeys. We enjoyed all the dogs and cats too.

One night there was loud music playing at one of the neighboring properties for a while. We were worried it was going to go on late into the night. Fortunately it finished up around 9:30PM.

"Superb"

9.0

This is an unusual hotel, as it is literally located in the jungle (it would not be easy to find it, if it were not for the kind and detailed instructions of the lady who runs it, who has been in touch with us from the start), because it is a place where they rescue monkeys to release them back into the wild. When I booked, I thought it would be a great experience for my kids and so it was. We had a tour of the rescue centre and could see monkeys both in cages and running free around us. Our bungalow room was clean and good size, even though it had quite a rustic look (in line with the image of the place). Breakfast was plentiful and with sufficient choice, considering it is a small hotel with only a handful of rooms. We felt personalized attention from beginning to end.

The last 500 meters to get to the hotel are a bit rough for driving and there is very little choice of restaurants within a walking distance, so we had to make do with whatever was available. The mattresses were a bit too soft for us, as my partner is quite heavy. The kids were a bit upset by the absence of the TV, but the Wi-Fi signal was good enough for us to show them some cartoons on the laptop.

"Amazing place on earth!!"

10.0

This place was amazing! In terms of accomodation it could be better, but if you look at as on a monkey and other animal sanctuary, which offers to stay overnight and spend time in nature, it is a perfect place. The owner was very nice, she rescues monkeys, cats and dogs, which you can find running happily around the whole property. There were 2 sweet cats waiting in front of our room every time. At night the room is nicely cold, you can hear only peaceful sounds of nature. Breakfast was amazing. We also met very nice people there, this is such a lovely, friendly place! It is also very close to the archeologic zone!

The accomodation is kind of “eco style” I would say. So no hot water in shower, high humidity in the room, not a hotel-like feeling. But it has its vibe and it is actually amazing! The road to the property is very steep and bumpy, better if you have an SUV. These are not complaints, just be prepared for that!
