Etna Sea House

We had a good stay in Catania, Sicily. The room is a good size, fully functioning with TV, nice warm shower, towels and all you may need during your stay. The place is kept nice and ordered and clean, feels very safe and is also in an easy walking distance from the main sites of Catania (~30-40 mins), restaurants, and transport hub (~20 minutes). The area is reasonably quiet, although like any city in Sicily, you'll be hearing some loud motorbikes, coach honking and sirens. If opting for a room with breakfast, the breakfast is really nice and varied with pastry, cookies, cereals (incl. Sicilian almond milk) and on some days even includes home made cake. Although we arrived early, the host kindly let us relieve ourselves of our heavy luggage while we waited for our room.

A few suggestions I thought of during my stay. From the booking.com app it lists a shared kitchen in the facilities. While there is a kitchen it is unfortunately for the most part unusable with just basic cutlery and some plates/glasses available (can't cook, no cutting board or potent knives). It would be really good if the potential of the kitchen is unlocked as there are really good home grown foods to cook with in Sicily. The breakfast although fantastic has a bit inconvenient time frame (from 08:00). If you want to go to Etna (08:15 bus), morning flight, grab that early beach space ;) or have a full day in other parts of Sicily you would need to skip breakfast. It would be good to have an earlier breakfast time window. Alternatively, something common in other places I've been to is offering a packed or pre-prepared breakfast, it doesn't have to be as whole as the main time breakfast but gives the opportunity for those one or two days during a stay where the guest can still enjoy that tasty breakfast. The mattress in the room I stayed feels like it could into retirement, it's formed two deep dips where people have slept on through the times.

It was a quiet clean place. Breakfast was serve nicely. Staff was good.

It was just a one night stay.

1. No facilities whatsoever in the room: no referigrator, no water,no kettle ,couldn’t make a cup of tea/coffee. 2. No facilities provided in the kitchen: no kettle no water everything under lock and key 3. Easy enough to suggest to get something from cafeteria outside but after a long journey and late evening , all one wants is a comforting cup of tea/coffee. 4. The breakfast time was 0800 hrs. We had to leave at 0815 to catch our flight. Our request to have breakfast a few minutes earlier was denied. So we had to hurry through breakfast without any enjoyment.

Just heads up, you have to pay tax 2€ per person per night. And no need for private parking that host offers (10€ per day) because you have cheap parking in front of the building (easy park).

B&B place with private owned couple. Very nice owners and a nice place to stay. Simple breakfast included and rooms were spacious and clean. The owners were nice and helpful. About 25min walk distance to the Catania center railway station and all the sights in the center. Would definently recommend to others.

Great Value for money. Everything was good, The room was clean and we have all what we need. The check in was fast and easy.
