Shanahans B&B with Sports Bar

Breakfast was very good, and the lady who made Breakfast was very hospitable.

Unfortunately there was no hot water from the shower, cold water only. I used the sink basin instead. Water was luke warm from the basin and it didn't have a proper plug hole, which made washing more difficult.

Whilst the rooms are above a bar, you feel very separate from it all, its quiet and comfortable and so easily accessible. We went to the cafe for food the next morning, what amazing prices and service! Lynn sure knows her stuff and was the friendliest face in there, she made us feel so comfortable and at home, and without mentioning a respectable woman’s age, her skin is incredible and she’s a young spirit at heart for sure. We also really appreciated the member of bar staff who showed us to our rooms and explained we could access the smoking area at any time of night, showed us where exits were, the bathroom, etc.

The only minute thing is i couldn’t find any cups to have some water in the night.

We stayed here as we had tickets to see Aston Villa v Liverpool at Villa Park which is about a 20-30 minute walk away, it is ideal for this purpose as it is a Villa supporters pub. The room is above a lively sports bar/pub and was quite small and basic, however, it was clean and relatively comfortable with a kettle for tea/ coffee and a good quality wall mounted TV. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I get the feeling that they like to reassure guests that they will be well looked after and safe as the location is a bit rough looking, set on an industrial estate with not much else around, we were a bit worried about our car being safe but needn't have worried as we parked next to the pub all night. Shared bathroom with shower was very clean and had plenty of hot water at all times and we didn't have to wait to use it as there was only one other guest staying apart from us.

The room didn't have much storage space for clothes etc but it was perfect for a one night stay to watch the football. The bed was a bit soft for me so I didn't have the best nights sleep and there was also a bit of noise from the pub below (people singing Happy Birthday gone midnight !!) but the locals are friendly and quite boisterous and the bar certainly has atmosphere which we enjoyed while having a nightcap.

Fantastic room, was VERY impressed for the price charged, friendly staff, friendly locals, food on site at certain times, lots of deliveries nearby if you cant make food slots, free parking,, cheap pints, 10 mins drive to city center, VERY comfy bed, slept like a log every night of the 4 i was there

Everything from walking in to the bar the staff are so lovely and helpful. And locals were friendly . Beautiful find and can't wait to tell our friends. Rooms were spotless and felt so safe there . Looking forward to booking again when we have an event up there x
