Everything was great for a quick stay

I’ve been a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member for over 10 years, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at any hotel. We had already checked into the Courtyard Marriott Auburn Hills and returned from dinner in 100-degree heat when I stopped by the front desk to show my wife’s ID. Instead of a normal interaction, the night staff member (DeShawna) became immediately hostile and canceled our reservation on the spot—with no explanation. We were told to leave the hotel immediately, even though we had already been issued our room. We were left scrambling for another hotel late at night, in extreme heat, with no assistance or apology. Even worse, when I tried to file a complaint with Marriott, I was routed to a website form with no follow-up or accountability. This came just days after we were also denied check-in at a different Marriott property (Fairfield Taylor) for a similarly mishandled ID situation. If you value professionalism, consistency, or basic hospitality—avoid this hotel. We’ve since started looking at Hilton and other brands that treat guests like people, not problems.

Charged me twice for the room

Our door did not shut properly. You had to finagle the handle from the inside for it to shut all the way which made leaving difficult. We could not use our toilet. We were only there one night and did not realize it did not work until late at night which was also inconvient.

The place was disgusting. Cleaning wasn’t even half hazard. There was a hole in our floor in room 308. The window is leaking into the room and rotting out the floor. I would never ever stay there again.

Staff was very friendly upon check-in and checkout. Let us check in early. The bed was comfortable and the room seemed clean.

The air conditioning unit was loud whenever it would kick on. Refrigerator did not keep items very cold and there didn’t seem to be any way to adjust it. No smart TV so we couldn’t stream shows through the TV from our phone and there was a charge for Wi-Fi.
