Hotel del Coronado, Curio Collection by Hilton

I've had the pleasure staying at this classic hotel several times and always look forward to returning. The location is exceptional. The hotel is located on a large beach that I have never seen crowded. The surf is usually gentle enough for kids to enjoy and the sand is lovely. The hotel facilities are also excellent. Whether staying in the classic side of the property or the newer towers, the rooms have been recently refreshed and are truly lovely. Many have wonderful views of the ocean. This time we said in one of the modern tower rooms with an ocean view. The restaurants on property are also great and we enjoyed eating there each night of our stay. Service was also excellent. The only thing lacking - though it was a big gap - was room service. It is very strange for a hotel marketing itself as a luxury property not to offer any kind of in-room dining. Not even breakfast. This proved to be a major problem for my wife and I, since our trip included days when we needed to work, and being unable to efficiently start the day with an in-room breakfast and coffee delivery was very frustrating. The brunch that was offered on property was also somewhat lacking. While there were lots of options, the food was not high quality and certainly did not match the price point. All in all, this is a lovey hotel that is great for families or couples, and we will look forward to returning... but the lack of room service is something others we know who have stayed here also found very annoying and is a real feature that is lacking for a hotel in this category.

Terrible experience…DO NOT waster your money and precious time here. For what they charge a basic level of service is expected. So disappointing and infuriating. The hotel is a zoo busy, way too many people all over the place - not relaxing or enjoyable at all. I wouldn’t recommend spending your $$$ here! Made reservations at the spa and it was a joke, hot tub didn’t work, spa is small and lame, and wanted to join my spouse with just a day pace and both of the girls at the desk were so rude and un-accommodating. Then we waited for our room for over 5 hours they kept stringing us on. Paid $1400 a night for what felt like motel 6 service. We’ll never be back! Believe me when I say, this place is very overrated and overpriced, there’s plenty of better options!

‘Sandcastle man’ who created sand art for 20 years at a California hotel just got fired because of his message of ‘I love democracy’. I am crushed this beautiful form of public art is being ground into special space for the elite. California beaches are for the public.

We had reserved a king room with a balcony but on check-in were told that only ground floor terrace units were available. We went to it but It was dark and noisy with lots of people walking by and looking in - we had absolutely no privacy. We tried to change rooms but two people told us that all the other rooms were full. Then we found wonderful Leila who changed us to the room type that we had originally reserved. She was great to work with and she made the difference between a miserable experience and a wonderful birthday for my wife.

Booked a one night stay for Valentine’s Day, we had an oceanfront room in the Victorian building, what a gorgeous room! We had a very large balcony and beautifully appointed room. Great amenities in the room, including a hand held steamer, hair dryer, coffee maker, and a mini fridge. The only amenity that I’m used to that it didn’t have was a magnifying makeup mirror. Customer service was 5 star from the moment we arrived. We were able to check in early and begin enjoying the resort. We did the Nobu Igloo experience on the beach, which was so fun! Excellent and attentive service, the only thing about the experience I would change would be have the option to choose our own entrees rather than the pre-selected courses. We had a personal fire pit outside the igloo complete with everything needed to make s’mores and enjoy a beautiful sunset. I highly recommend this hotel.

Great Location, BUT the beach in front of the Hotel Del Coronado has been contaminated for over 6 weeks! Would not recommend staying if you plan on enjoying the ocean. A bit disappointing that this little detail was left out while booking. Evidently the water if front of the Hotel Del is closed frequently due to fecal contamination from the Tijuana River making it unpredictable when entry into the ocean is permitted. This is obviously something the Hotel can not control, but it could make it much more clear to guests that there is a high likelihood that ocean entry is not permitted.

Ended up not staying because the whole reason for us to stay at this hotel was gone. The Sand Castles man has been moved from in front of the hotel. He always had quotes from famous Americans and his sandcastles were works of art. We were able to find a hotel near where he now is further north on the beach.

What a beautiful resort—an absolutely stunning location right on the beach. The restaurants, bars, and coffee shops are all excellent, offering great variety and quality. The staff truly stand out: exceptionally well trained, organized, and genuinely attentive. An outstanding experience from start to finish

Lage des Hotels .... leider wurde um das sehr schöne ehrwürdige Hotel viele Hotel Neubauten gebaut, so dass das Hotel seinen traditionellen Charakter fast ganz verloren hat. Sehr schade

Die vielen Zusatzbauten um das alte Hotel zerstörten dessen Einmaligkeit. Ich fühlte mich wie in einer "Geldmaschine " von Hilton ! Unmöglich ist auch, dass das Strandrestaurant nur von einem Teil der Gäste in teurern Zimmer benutzt werden kann (es sei denn, man zahle eine exhorbitanten Eintrittskarte); auch sind ein Teil der Schwimmbäder nur für Gäste in einer bestimmten Zimmerkategorie zugägnlich ....what a shame as all rooms are ver expensive ....I paid more tha 800 Dollar a night

Hey Everyone not to be a bummer and I hate writing bad reviews but I would definitely want to know this. Simply put - The Hotel Del Coronado Beach is not suitable for swimming. They won't tell you this when you lay down your credit card to book their pricey rooms. They won't even tell you when you check in. The hazard is due to the sewage/e-coli over flow from neighboring Tijuana. It is dangerous and can lead to many serious health problems. PLEASE look up the water index/quality prior to booking. Check out sdbeachinfo.com - for example today (and the last 40 days) it says Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact. You can do better and not make yourselves sick!
