Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel

Stayed at the Mecure Oxford Eastgate Hotel this past weekend on business as part of a festival. The accommodation was great, the setting brilliantly located and the breakfast fantastic. But the real standout was the customer service. My car battery annoyingly died on the first night. The staff - particular mention to Raghav on reception - were absolutely fantastic at helping to coordinate with the RAC to get it fixed. I was unable to keep my phone on to arrange matters during the day, and they took care of everything. Above and beyond. Highly recommend!

Good size room / very comfortable / very nice location - scenic

My room was in a different building which required going outside and up and downstairs with a suitcase. Also, there is no phone in the room so no way to contact reception apart from scanning a QR code and then picking from options none of which suited me.

The breakfast room was pleasant but tables were not always cleared and set food mediocre not a happy experience

Tea and coffee could be served in pots. The juice jugs were very difficult to pour if you did not realise the lid lifted. Toaster very slow butter hard Could have pots of jam not those horrible machines. No marmalade. I think they need a water filter the water made the tea disgusting. No choice of skimmed milk go

I understand that Oxford is expensive as I know the town well. But over 200£ for a 5m2 room is unacceptable. And the mattress is really poor quality.

The room I was assigned on the third floor was extremely disappointing, particularly given the lack of elevator access. The room did not have central heating or cooling, and the windows opened only a few inches, making it difficult to regulate the temperature or get adequate ventilation. The bathroom was poorly equipped, with no mirror above the sink and no accessible outlet for the hair dryer. The closet was awkwardly positioned under a sloped ceiling and included only two hangers. There was also no meaningful shelf or storage space in the room, which meant I had to live out of my suitcase for the duration of my stay. The in-room amenities were also very limited. There was no proper coffee maker, only instant coffee and a kettle. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and only one towel was provided during my stay. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had would not return to this property. It has also made me much less likely to book with Accor hotels in the future.

The lift not working made going up the stair difficult for our elderly parents.

The breakfast was better than expected. The location was excellent.

I dont think I had the same class ofroom as I booked and paid for but I was too tired to quibble. It is a shame that there is no restaurant at the hotel, or at least the chance to buy a snack withouthaving to go out.
