Comfort Suites Oshkosh West

We had big expectations for our stay. We are from Oshkosh but wanted access to a pool for our granddaughter's spring break. This was possibly the worst hotel stay we have ever had. First the good... The room was good. Spacious and clean. The staff that we interacted with were pleasant, friendly and professional. That was where the good stopped. We have never seen a 3 star hotel so run down and dirty. Their own summary says they are a completely renovated hotel. When? Certainly not recently. "Out of order" was the operative motto for our weekend. It was actually a running joke as we found new things broken. A little maintenance goes a long way. During our stay I starting reading reviews and it is a common theme. Dirty and poorly maintained. Game room: half the games had out of order signs. Except the gambling games. That's ok because the changer to get quarters is also out of service. There is a list of board/card games you can get from the front desk. Long list... most missing from the bin. The one we did pick was missing 7 of the 12 things needed to play the game. Pool area: Dirty. Especially the kiddie pool. You don't notice until the water fountains are turned off. Needs a major cleaning or needs to be painted. The top step of the main pool was missing a screw on one side. I am amazed no one has been injured. I actually went and purchase a replacement stainless steel bolt and nut to fix it myself. No one at the hotel is repairing anything. Pool filtration system isn't working. I couldn't do anything about that. Guessing that is why the pool is so cold. Clocks without batteries. Fitness center door missing the whole door handle assembly. One of the treadmills out of order. Our granddaughter saw it spark. Ice machine out of order on 1st floor. Breakfast: Sad. This probably upset me the most. Part of the hotel cost is for the food. Most wasn't edible. Sausage was under done and tasted putrid. Eggs were gone and took 30 minutes to be refilled. They started serving at 7 am. We came down at 7:30. However waiting for the eggs was a mistake. They had the texture of a sponge. A wet sponge. Potatoes, no flavor. Gravy for biscuits with no biscuits available. Cereal but the milk was empty the entire time we were there. Bread and bagels in the bread drawer were dried out. Muffins were mushy. We finally made some waffles. They were ok. My wife had a yogurt. Second day we didn't even waste our time. We ate out. Finally we reserved our room 2 months ago on their website. Ended up costing us just under $250 for 2 nights. If we had just shown up at the hotel it would have been $170. They won't give you the best price though. It's their 'policy'. So in summary we regret staying here. It really says something when you are over charged for a hotel stay but they can't even fix things around the hotel. When we walked into the hotel on day 1 there was a STRONG cleaning solution smell. Like they were trying to cover something up? We stayed on the 4th floor and hallway had a strong smell. Best we could figure it smelled like chicken soup but not good chicken soup. Like it had been spilled on the floor weeks before we stayed. That might explain the stains on the carpet leading to our room. Find a different hotel if you are staying in Oshkosh. Upon reading theirvreviews over the last couple years the manager has replied that they will look into and fix many of the problems in those reviews. Obviously that is just lip service. This place needs major help!

The room and bed were awesome, super comfortable and lots of room. Some of the public areas needed some cleaning.

The mattress for the couch was dirty and had yellow stains on it, there was chips in the bed. Garbage under the couch. The beds are very worn and you can feel the springs. The pillows are the size of a half pillow. Overall it was a very disappointing stay, the breakfast was in warmers that did not work or weren’t even on.

The staff is exceptional, the side entrance door doesnt fully shut and allows anyone to go in

The tv remotes don’t work very well. Bed was great!! Breakfast was good but they had a hard time keeping coffee pots full.

I was very unhappy with my stay. The bed was not made, and I had to make it. There was dirty towels on the bathroom counter, and there was urine in the toilet. The hot breakfast food was cold,

We never had anyone clean our room the whole three days we were there. The front desk was nice, but our keys kept deactiving and it was a bit annoying. They also overbooked so we had some family that didnt get the room they reserved. The pool needs some attention, painting and cleaning - as well as the pool bathroom. Not a super clean hotel and the breakfast was sub par. The kids arcade area could use more kids games and remove the video lottery.

Everything was great!

The entry was over powering with air scent, I had a hard time breathing. Air vents in room are caked with dust. Bathroom needs calk and paint. Hot tub in room wasn't working properly. Night stand light didn't work. Soda in vending area was only diet mountain dew and diet pepsi. Staff was ok.
