Whole place needs remodeling

Right next to the Askaig ferry, very old building. Nice bar, nice Scottish breakfast.

Towels were line dried which made them rough to the feel. The room was adequate but the amount we paid did not reflect the standard of room we received.

Location and price. Breakfast was plentiful

Owner was surly, room didn’t lock. I reported it to staff and they didn’t fix it so my room was insecure. Water was cold, towels are like dead hedgehogs, breakfast service was painfully slow. My shower nearly flooded but I wasn’t in it long as it was cold. The place is tired. My bedding and bathroom were clean but the public areas less so. I had to stay there for work. I would hate having to spend my own money to stay there.

The only good things we liked about this hotel was the shower pressure and temperature were good, and a fan was provided in the room. I think their breakfast room and service would have been more enjoyable if we could have stayed longer but had to catch the Ferry. Julie who was serving breakfast was kind and welcoming to us upon entering the breakfast room.

Many issues with this hotel that the entire experience was just continually disappointing. The lack of hospitality and friendliness repeatedly experienced by the staff made us uncomfortable. As if we were "annoying" them when simply asking to settle up the tab. We actually missed our ferry for first night, but did call twice as well as our travel agent twice who left messages, to let them know. Getting a hold of anyone at this hotel is a challenge. So we only stayed one night at thus hotel. Upon arrival, the female who checked us in was not welcoming. She stated that the room was only booked for 1 adult, and would charge for two, stating we could do so upon check out. It was never mentioned this was done the night before check out (that night). There is a small sign next to brochures that state it, but was covered by a card for a taxi. We got back to the hotel around 730 that evening and saw nobody at the desk nor the snug bar next door. So the morning we left, we asked about settling up. It took awhile to find someone to help us, and when we did the lady was annoyed. First told me to come back in "15 minutes" because she didn't have anything open. I did and explained to her it should just be the cost of the extra adult. She said she didn't know but had some papers in front of her. Credit card was given but no receipt with check out. She seemed annoyed with the entire process, while we, as thr customers, were trying to be patient and accommodating. Of the three staff members we came into contact with in the less than 24 hours stay, only one was friendly and welcoming. Next the state of the hotel was disappointing. We found areas of exposed wire, a hole in the wall, what looked to be green molding around the shower, left over musty water in tea kettle, lumpy mattress that felt like a bar was going into your back, and moldy/dusty fan in bathroom.
