Location excellent. Breakfast was really good

Bathroom looked like it needed updated. No air conditioning but did provide a fan

Staff and location excellent, breakfast good and efficiently managed, room spacious.

No air conditioning but fan provided; we needed help to open window in heat wave. Room doors would benefit from soft-close mechanism.

The location.staff where very freindly and extremly helpful.

The only thing to moan about is the price of the bar it is the most expensive pint you will buy..

Dear Booking.com Customer Service, I am writing to formally complain about my recent stay at the Mercure Hotel York, booked through your platform for the nights of 29th–30th, at a cost of £300. The condition of the room we were initially given was completely unacceptable and far below what was advertised on Booking.com. On arrival, we found: The toilet was broken (literally split/damaged) and filthy Carpets were ripped throughout The kettle was grimy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned The TV remote was dirty There was a hair bobble left in the bed, suggesting it hadn’t been properly cleaned Sick remains were left in the bin The furniture was battered and in very poor condition The carpet gripper between the toilet and the hallway was exposed, which caused my partner to trip and injure her ankle We reported this immediately and were eventually moved to another room. However, this took approximately two hours, meaning we lost a significant portion of our day. The second room was also not fit for use. The bathroom had clearly just been polyfilled, and the strong chemical smell caused us headaches and discomfort during our stay. As a form of compensation, the hotel offered us a two-course meal. Unfortunately, this was also extremely disappointing – the food was cold, undercooked, and not of an acceptable standard. In addition, the attitude of the staff when we raised these issues was poor. They were dismissive, unhelpful, and came across as arrogant, which only added to the overall experience. This hotel is not as advertised on Booking.com and, in my opinion, should not be listed at this standard. It is certainly not worth £300 for 2 nights. I have attached photographic evidence to support the above. Given the circumstances, including the health and safety risk and injury caused, I am requesting a full refund for this stay. I would appreciate this being investigated urgently and a resolution provided as soon as possible. Kind regards, Daniel Mitchell

The hotel was clearly well kept and clean. The rooms were spacious and airy. Staff went above and beyond.

The bathrooms could use a refurbishment. Our room was directly onto the main road and fairly busy and noisy at night.
