Homewood Suites by Hilton Hartford-Farmington

Great location close to family home. Breakfast was hot and staff was very nice.

No hot water and dirty bed sheets

The entry road had very deep potholes at the entry to the parking lot. Our first room had a non functioning toilet, our second room had loose handles on the bathroom sink. The emergency exit door area was rusting away. The side entrance door wouldn’t open even though the card access showed green

This was the perfect place for us to stay on a quick business trip to Hartford. It is just outside of Hartford, near shopping, restaurants, etc. The drive from the hotel to UConn, the Mark Twain and Beecher-Stowe houses, and the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History could not have been easier. The staff was very helpful. Our suite was a nice size and very clean. Much larger than most city hotels and complete with a small kitchen and lounge area. Breakfast was very satisfying. There were a few minor downsides which may be more important to some: -The complimentary local shuttle has a 5-mile limit. That will get you to some of the shops and restaurants, but falls just short of the tourist sites. -The hotel is rather spartan in terms of decor. (I think that the maintenance guy that told me "If we put a clock in the pool area, kids will rip it off of the wall and throw it like a frisbee," sums up the decor style.) The pool shower area is nice. Add some shampoo, a bench and a few hooks to the room and it would be great. Add a clock so guests can tell what time it is. The room keys did not work in the pool door the day I went.

We were here for a family vacation and chose this hotel for the location. We were visiting family in both Northern and Southern CT and wanted to be centrally located. And Farmington is quiet and very safe feeling. The pool is large and was never full. There is no hot tub (I couldn’t quite figure this out based on previous reviews and hotel info so I thought posting it would be helpful for others). Overall we’d describe the hotel as comfortable and quiet. The beds were comfortable. A good family hotel. The only downsides are the hotel is feeling a little run down and needs a refresh (frayed carpets, missing TV remotes, etc). Speaking of TV remotes I heard a guest at the front desk say his remote was out of batteries and they said they didn’t have any and just gave him a new remote. But I heard them say that was their last remote and the battery cover was missing. Not the end of the world just another sign of a hotel needing a little TLC and organization. Also, the cleanliness wasn’t great. Not awful, but not great (e.g. dried booger on closet door, furniture that wasn’t dusted, busted toilet paper holder, bathroom sink that didn’t drain well). Also, they seem a little disorganized. Like when we checked in they said the room I chose wasn’t ready (it’s odd the app has you choose a room) and offered a different one. We didn’t care. But when we went up to it housekeeping was still in the room working on it. We waited a few mins and as she left all the drawers were open and it looked like she maybe didn’t get to finish. Also the front desk said they do housekeeping every other day, which is fine, but when we came back the housekeeper had clearly come in and restocked stuff but didn’t really clean or anything else. It was just sort of strange. Like I said, just a little disorganized. They have washers and dryers which take credit cards which is nice but they had run out of soap and dryer sheets. So you need to drive down the road and get some and then you’re buying stuff just for one load. Sort of lame. Again just poorly run I think. I doubt we’d stay here again. I wouldn’t be opposed to it but I think I’d try something different.

The receptionist was great, she was to get me in for an earlier check in with no problem. I went for dinner and came back to the rooms bathroom had flooded into the bedroom. None of my property was damaged. They did not have another room and or a maintenance personnel on site

This Hotel is fabulous. Far exceeded my expectations. Very convenient location. Easy access to I 84 without the traffic of Hartford.

It wasn’t the cleanest of places, but no bed bugs so acceptable

Have stayed here before, but really noticed this time how run-down it is getting. Rooms are ok but not super clean, mattresses getting old and lumpy. Bath towels were nice, however. Carpets throughout dirty and getting tattered. Saw several ac and heat registers that were filthy. Outside grounds not well kept, poop recepticals not cleaned. Appeared that someone slept in his/her car overnight near our windows- car had dark track bags hanging out all windows. Pretty disappointing. Will not return
