Holiday Inn Express - Horse Cave by IHG

We arrived at this hotel because it was conveniently located along the highway. The front desk staff were polite and the check-in process went smoothly. However, when we entered the room, it did not feel properly cleaned. The duvet were visibly dirty, The bottom of the shower curtain was very yellow and showed a lot of dirt. Inside the ice bucket there was an old plastic bag left from a previous guest. The bed was also not very comfortable. On a positive note, the breakfast was very good. I really enjoyed it — everything was fresh and delicious. The eggs with cheese were great, the cinnamon rolls were warm and tasty, and the coffee was very good. The common areas of the hotel were also quite clean. I paid $50 for my pet, which I felt was very expensive. Overall, I would rate my stay a 7 out of 10. I believe the room cleanliness definitely needs improvement.

I am beyond disappointed with our stay at this location. We had a major health and safety issue that was completely ignored by staff. • Health Hazard: My family experienced allergic reactions after using the body wash in the shower dispenser. We use Dove products at home regularly, but the substance in this room was clumpy, separated, and appeared to be tampered with or replaced with a different product. • Management is Non-Existent: We attempted to speak with a manager every single day of our stay to address the health concern and a severely clogged bathtub drain. We even delayed our departure this morning to try to catch someone in charge. We were repeatedly told no manager was available, and the staff offered absolutely no help or remediation. • Maintenance Issues: The bathroom was poorly maintained; the tub drain was so clogged that water pooled during every shower, which is unsanitary and frustrating. As someone who travels frequently, I have never experienced such a blatant disregard for guest safety and basic hygiene. I would strongly advise staying elsewhere until they address the integrity of their products and the lack of management oversight.

Clean and comfortable

The breakfast was good.

The shower didn't have hot water. It was cool, but not freezing. I also noticed that there was a screw missing from the cover plate in the bathtub faucet.

Price.

Stayed in double bed room. One bed was dirty. There was blood on one pillow. Another pillow had stains on it from falling on a dirty floor. Sheets stunk. Slept on top on comforter. Bathroom had LOTS of pubic hair and hair in there. Sink had 4 hairs. Shower had 6 hairs. Toilet had 2 hairs. Some hairs were 15+ inches. Seems hard to miss. Floor was full of debris in corners of all rooms and walls. We wore socks. Just me and my boys so we just brushed it off but my wife would have thrown a fit. Entire hotel lacked in cleanliness honestly.
