Hampton Inn Salt Lake City-Layton

Everything was great but there was a bit of construction going on when we went, they do put it in their info to let people know that they’re under construction and for how long so it is to be expected. Staff was super understanding and explained why breakfast was smaller

The description said it slept five, but one of our group had to sleep on the floor and it is a very small room.

Everything was great- unfortunately cookies gone quickly- so we missed out! Breakfast eating area absent due to construction & no hot protein available!

The rooms were clean. The food in the sports bar restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was good. The carpet in the hallways seemed dark and dingy though. That was something I thought needs changed.

Availability

The furniture in the lobby was stained and dirty. Floors in the hallways and elevator was dirty. The shower had hair and mold. Breakfast was sparse, not a lot of options. On the main floor there were towels on the floor in front of the room. Front desk clerks did not have a professional appearance. Did not feel this location lived up to the Hampton Inn name.

The outside dog area was very nice and we appreciated the thoughtful inclusion of a bench and dog waste bags. The staff was wonderful and responded instantly when we found that one of our pillows had a bloodstain smear on the pillowcase tucked into the pillow. They immediately apologized and gave us a new pillow.

The breakfast was disappointing. It is advertised as a hot breakfast which typically means a selection of hot items like eggs, oatmeal, and waffles. Sadly the only hot item was a lone waffle station with a very long line. All the rest of the food was cold typical continental fair- hardly worth the upsold advertising. As this was one of the deciding factors between this hotel and a Fairfield Marriott which does have a full hot breakfast buffet, our family was greatly disappointed. There is only one table to eat at in the tiny breakfast area- and there was a giant overflow of guests all crowded together trying to balance their plates and not drop anything while attempting to fill plates with the sad choices of basic muffins and cereals. Other meh factors included the incredibly uncomfortable sofa beds we were told would be perfect for our teens to stay on. The mattresses on them are thin and hurt to lie down on as you feel every spring and coil beneath you. We also noticed cracks and crumbling tiles on the edges of our bathroom shower stall, frayed carpets throughout the facility- including unraveling seams in the hallways, and a general tiredness as the hotel obviously needs refreshing. The much advertised swimming pool is very tiny and the hot tub has jets positioned way to low and is very old and not very warm.

The staff was great. But their breakfast area was a joke, it’s all under renovation, we picked a hotel specifically for breakfast wish they would’ve stated that on their website

The hotel staff is very friendly. Usually it’s late when we check in. The staff is Always ready to get us checked in. After driving all day we always know they are there for us.

Hotel is always clean. Beds are comfy. Staff is cheerful when checking in and it’s usually later in the evening.

The staff was friendly and check in was fast. The room was clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The only problem was the bathroom sink. It was clogged and wouldn't drain. We reported it to the front desk and they gave us a tool to use to unblock the sink. It did not help much.
