Heartland Hotel Glacier Country

Walking distance to fox glacier helicopter tours and all 3(?) restaurants. Do not eat at the hotel, it's overpriced, there's better options around. The hotel is kinda old and rickety, but it's clean. Room was super tiny. I booked 2 rooms, one with a queen, one with two doubles, and they gave us two queen rooms. I don't know if this is Hotels.com having issues or the hotel's fault, but they fixed it immediately. Bed was kinda hard. Not a lot of options in town, this is not a great hotel but it's not too bad. A bit overpriced but you know... location, location, location.

Hotel that i booked was actually closed !! Consequently had to stay across road. Very poor receptionist, we had to carry bags up twisting stairs. Restaurant was very, very poor. Service in restaurant appalling. Table poorly laid, had to constantly request basic utensils and crockery. Significant part of set menu not available. Very poor value for money

It was nice to have a lobby where we could hang out

Clean but very dated rooms. If you require an early night and they put you in a room from 30-51 ask to be moved as cafe across the road is very noisy and busses constantly stopping and starting

Old adage applies here - you get what you pay for. Spent extra $30 NZ in another hotel in Fox and it was worth every extra cent - in terms of comfort quality etc
