Bird of Paradise Hotel

Loud street noise.

We loved our stay here. The staff is fantastic! We also had the fortune of meeting the owners. Everyone was welcoming and willing to share recommendations. The room was so clean and perfectly decorated. It's in an amazing location--close to restaurants, bars, and the beach--and still very quiet at night. Definitely recommend!

Many upgrades have been made and more to come. Super cold room, clean, comfortable and just a quick walk to the beach. Would definitely stay there again

I believe the property is under renovation by a family. They are doing a great job getting the property to be a nice place to stay for an affordable price. The rooms were bright and look recently redecorated with a a lot of Costa Rican charm. The room we had was a suite with a mini fridge, sink, storage space and two double beds in two separate rooms. This size was good for our family of 3. I liked being able to keep food and drinks in the fridge. I wish they had some basic dishes and utensils, but we grabbed some plastic ware from Mas x Menos grocery store down the road. I also wish the room had come with a coffee maker as well. The bathroom was small, but nice and clean. The hotel provided shampoo, body wash and conditioner in big containers in the shower, which was nice. The downfalls of this property include the ongoing construction and renovations. Some mornings, there were loud noises waking us up and the pool area had a construction project going on. We were still able to use the pool though. The courtyard has some potential as well, including grass or sand rather than gravel. The pool chairs and pillows were a nice touch we appreciated. Another downfall is that we did have a cockroach in our room one of the nights. My husband went to get the front desk attendant and he got rid of it and sprayed. Other than that, the property was clean. Overall, the property is walkable to many restaurants, shops and the beach. It has a lot of charm and is safe.

The owners were great people with a vision of improving the hotel even more . Great location everything is walkable and the area is very safe.

Small hotel with nice pool. 3 minute walk to beach. Great staff who were very helpful and accommodating. Room was clean and comfortable with a safe, fridge and microwave in the room.

Pros: staff was friendly and offered good suggestions for local restaurants and activities. My daughter lived that we had 3 separate beds which meant she didn’t have to sleep with her brother. Cons: extremely noisy atmosphere- the building is older and easy to hear what is going on outside. The worst part is there wasn’t hot water to bathe with. When I asked the lady working her response was that the solar panels had to get more sun in order for it to warm up. It was around 7 am when my family wanted to shower. We just left and went to our next destination.
