"It was a great experience. very nice place and presentable. Not to bad if travelling alone."

10.0

The place and location is great. Very friendly and accommodating owner, Has some strict house rules which is normal. I can cook use the Kitchen whenever i please to do so.

Parking is kinda hard if you have a intermittent schedule, Specially when other guest arrives with their cars. But the owner is managing the parking space which is nice. No smoking area if you need to smoke.

"Potential, but needs some attention."

5.0

Not too far from Sylvia Park if you’re young enough for a 1.5km walk. Transport options are available from the mall (about 20 mins walk to the mall and 50 minutes more to cbd by bus, which departs every 20 minutes. Not sure about train as the station was closed for the time I was there and trains replaced by busses). Nice scenic walkway with bird sanctuary and exercise equipment just on the other side of Waipuna rd. I took some really nice sunset and early morning photos there. Linnen and towel was fresh and clean.

I couldn’t check in earlier as the room was “professionally cleaned”. Some elbow grease next to the bed, around the light switches, windows and some random mess streaks on the walls will add some credibility to this “professional cleaning”. The room is small, so this should really be quick and easy. The clean linnen kind of lost its appeal once I saw the stained pillow inside the casing. Fortunately I could swop it with a clean spare from the closet. The shared bathroom was messy. I know a lot depends on fellow guests, and I had to share with a slob that left all wet and hairy, BUT no cleaning was done by the owners at all for the 4 days that I stayed there. And by the dust and hair all over and around the bath, I assume not for quite some time previously either. The toilet needs a proper cleaning of the lid and seat. Having to dodge a bunch of stranger scrunchies in the shower and get out on a dirty sticky shower mat were also not things that I found particularly exciting. I used the kitchen once to make tea and warm up some leftovers, but the dishwasher, microwave and fridge water-dispenser was so tacky that I rather avoided it. The house is as quiet as the other guests are. So if the guy in the next room has a call on speakerphone at 6am, you’ll be up too. Leaving previous guests’ forgotten toiletries etc in the desk drawers is also more gross than useful.
