Inn at Middleton Place is unique. No other facility compares in beauty. While the buildings/rooms are dated, every comfort is provided including a working wood-burning fireplace. Adjacent gardens are fantastic.

We made a reservation at Middleton Inn for Christmas , December 24 to the 26th 2025. On December 23 the hotel called us and said they were closing Dec 24-26, and they were canceling our reservation. We were coming to spend Christmas with our grandchildren who live near Middleton Inn. I asked them why they accepted the booking and she said , “I don’t know”. I had booked it a month in advance. I don’t recommend planning your stay in Charleston around Middleton Inn. Our Christmas plans were complete ruin and we missed Christmas with our family.

The location being on the grounds of the Middleton Place Plantation is an amazing experience. The room was beautiful and the views from the wall of windows was fantastic. The restaurant on plantation grounds was wonderful.

The chimney leaked when it rained damaging our luggage and shopping bags full of gifts. But the biggest disappointment was the breakfast. The food was cooked in old maybe even rancid oils. I understand using frozen biscuits as this is difficult to reproduce without a genuine cook or even baker, but frozen cheap hashbrown wedges are not acceptable. you are an inn on a southern plantation charging $500/night. The breakfast food just has to be better.
