New Haven Hotel

Great location, a lot of resturants near by. Hotel is clean.

Comfortable bed, but poor soundproofing.

Clean. Big room. The Lady that checked us in was friendly and entertaining!

The information upfront was not great. I thought parking was included but it was not. 24 dollars. Hard to find with google maps as it kept losing the place and we did 3 circuits. Information/directions up front from the hotel would have been good. Wanted a glass of wine at 10:15pm as a treat… to be told that they could not serve any alcohol after 10pm!!! What? Have been all over the world and never had this. The wine/beers were in fridges that reception staff had to operate. Ridiculous! We also were not told in advance that the parking charge was basically 24 hrs Noon to Noon. So we paid 24 dollars from 7:30pm to noon the next day and had to rush to eat breakfast off site before that. We stored the luggage whilst we had breakfast and when the receptionist went to get the luggage she left them at the top of two steps (big cases x2) plus rucksacks and I have a knee injury … instead of wheeling them round the corner down the ramp. Meanwhile she was defending herself in a disagreement with her male manager who ALSO walked past me standing next to the cases but never offered to help me as he was clearly annoyed at his staff member! Probably just caught them at a bad time but not really great customer service. No water bottle in the room. Expected to buy everything. Bit underwhelming. Glad we only had one night there.

The New Haven Hotel more than met our expectations. Convenience for the hotel guest was evident throughout. The atmosphere serene and updated. The staff at the front desk was exceptional. Diadema and Sulav went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The room was well appointed and immaculate. The location provided easy access to both the hospital and university. Definitely a good value hotel, especially if qualify for a hospital rate.

The location was good for our purpose. It was walkable.

You cannot check in online and get a mobile key or online access for the garage. You have to park in front of the hotel and get checked in at the reception area before they give you your room key that serves as an access key to the garage. The doorknob of the level 2 parking garage that leads to the bridge going to the hotel was broken and stuck, and when I called the receptionist, she was kinda annoyed when I told her that we tried our best but the door won't really open. She suggested to just go down to the level 1 and cross the road to the hotel. It was inconvenient since we had a lot of stuff and tired from a long travel. Luckily a couple arrived and got to open the door. The AC unit in the room and the exhaust in the bathroom were so loud. And the scent they used in the room was too strong. The toilet bowl was too low. The cafe or restaurants around the hotel were not open until 11:30AM.

They renovated the lobby to make it look nice, but inside the room it's old and dusty. The room is dark even if all lights on, and it smells like mold. No complimentary water (only one water machine at the GF elevator lobby) and you need to pay for any water in bottles. Only one person is available to check in and out for everyone, answer all phone calls for room service, and handling parking and the storage of luggage. No concierge or whatever.
