Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Altstadt in einem historischen Gebäude, aber innen top modern. Es hat eine Dachterrasse mit sensationellem Blick über die Altstadt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

The only positive point I can give is for the polite receptionist. Unfortunately, the room itself was a complete disappointment. We had an standard room, which was our own choice, but it was definitely not worth €250 per night without breakfast. The room did have a window, but it did not open to the outside. Instead, it faced an inner courtyard — more like an attic area — with pigeons, so opening the window was not really an option. We also had to keep the curtain closed all the time, because directly opposite our window was another window of another guest who had apparently made the same unfortunate room choice. The bed and bed linen were comfortable, and the bathroom fittings were new. However, the worst part of the room was the complete lack of privacy when using the toilet. The toilet and shower was separated from the room only by an almost transparent, lightweight sliding door, which did not close properly by design. This was extremely uncomfortable and, in my view, completely unacceptable for a hotel room. The coffee machine was placed next to the toilet. There was a capsule coffee machine, but we only managed to make one cup of coffee; after that, it no longer worked. The Wi-Fi only started working several hours after check-in, late at night. We were very happy that we stayed there for only one night. In the future, I do not intend to choose a Best Western hotel again.

Frühstücksleistung war unter unserer Erwartung, vieles war leer und wurde nur schleppend nachgelegt. Das Personal war trotzdem bemüht alles auf Stand zu halten, der Frühstücksaal war sehr voll wegen einer Hochzeit am Vorabend mit vielen Gästen im Hotel.

The hotel is situated right at the edge of the Old Town, within a short walking distance to the railway station and with the famous Zytglogge Clock Tower just right round the corner. The reception is very capacious with plenty of seating and constantly busy during our visit there. There is a terrace on the eighth floor – great for those evening drinks and admiring the lights of the city. Our Suite on the sixth floor was very spacious and with ample wardrobe space, including a pull-out contraption, and great views over the city. Beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of seating around. Tea-making facilities were provided. There was a Safety box and bottled water was provided in the fridge. WiFi signal was excellent. TV had variety of foreign-speaking programmes. Bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower. We didn’t try breakfast at the hotel considering the choice outside – there is even a COOP shop right next door where you can dine and get all you need. Reception staff were very efficient and friendly.
