"Terrible service"

4.0

Nothing

Let me share my nightmarish experience with a hotel that you should absolutely steer clear of. I had booked a villa at what was supposed to be a luxurious hotel with excellent service and private butlers. But just five days before my check-in, I was abruptly informed that the villa was under renovation and I was shunted to one of their so-called sister hotels. The replacement hotel was a disaster. The private butler, who was supposed to provide top-notch service, was completely useless. Messages went unread for hours, and when a response finally came after a staggering 3-4hours, it was just a feeble "Sorry, we are very busy." Breakfast that was ordered for a specific time never showed up. The room cleaning was a joke โ€“ only the yard was cleaned while the room interior remained untouched. And as for the promised afternoon tea? Forget about it. I was told it wasn't ready and then it was never provided. This hotel is a prime example of false advertising. It claims to offer great service but fails miserably on every front. Do not be lured by any of its promises. Save yourself the headache and disappointment. Avoid this hotel like the plague.

"Very good"

8.0

Nice and friendly staff, however, they spoke very little english.

We had taken a family pool villa, the pool has algae and insects and ants were a problem. They didnโ€™t have basic things in the hotel, like butter! Although after lot of insisting, the staff arranged. Not a great place if you are a vegetarian l.

"Lovely Hotel... not in the heart of Siem Reap."

8.0

For starters, the hotel has a resort-like ambience to it. It it few kms ahead of the city area. So it feels great to be in a quieter area. There is free transport provided by the hotel but with Grab app, access to the city is not a big constraint and is relatively inexpensive. The presence of Ms Chamnam (who was our butler equivalent) is great because she was the single point of contact and was very accessible on the phone. The staff is very polite and friendly and warm. (That actually seems to be the nature of most Cambodians.) The spa services is a standout. Although in the city, you can get 30-60 mins massages for $5-$7, they're in a crowded place surrounded by people lying next to you. But here the spa is very quiet, well designed and near perfect. The two ladies doing the treatments are excellent and well trained. So you feel refreshed after going through it considering the days tend to be hectic due to temple runs. There are 2 swimming pools. The salt water one looked fresher and the water was very clear. Did not try the other one. The property being large, you have the advantage of walking around - in the mornings or evenings. Or simply sitting out and hearing birds and insects chirping. The rooms are very large and beds very comfortable. So sleep comes easy. The minibar is well stocked.

If there is something that can improve, it will be the food. The breakfast (and lunch and dinner which is a set menu) tends to limit us. We wished it was buffet style or a better constructed menu was made available. The food is alright though not great. The range of beverages is also somewhat limited. The service is very good though. Perhaps they could also improve the lighting of the resort. It is too dimly lit in the nights. So it feels a quite sedate post sunset.

"Lots of potential, poor execution"

5.0

Nice aesthetic, secluded location, and the salt pools the salt water pools are amazing to just float

The hotel has more flaws than positive, first off we will start with construction, the building isnโ€™t sealed properly so bugs roam freely around the rooms as well as gecko that poops on ur bed, proper sealing is important especially in a area with a lot of bugs. Sliding doors do not slide easy and the low quality door handles do not effort any help but rather instills fear that they will break while you try to close the doors. The poor sealing and lack of insulation makes it so the ac has trouble balancing out from day to night. Next is quality of life changes that are needed, the place is riddled with bug so you would think they would do some spraying or have big zaps in place to control the bugs but they donโ€™t, nights are unenjoyable to sit outside and enjoy the views because light sources cause the bugs to swarm you as you sit outside on the patio, pool area or even underneath your villa. Next is staff, they are decent but not for the price, when they clean the room doors are left open for outside invaders to enter the villa so as they clean they are just letting in mosquito to feast on you at night, also there should be more staff with above average language skills since ordering ginger ale or ice was challenging by phone but easier when using WhatsApp since it gives them time to translate. Lastly the amount of large bodies of still water is not conducive to having a mosquito free environment they could certainly upgrade their lakes and still water to have filters and moving water to kill mosquito larvae and clear up the color of the water. Overall it has a lot of potential to be the best luxury resort in siem reap, they just need to fix some huge issues. Oh I also need to add foood selection is very poor, they need to offer more Khmer dishes that taste good and reevaluate their western dishes because the pizza is awful

"A deep connection to Earth and Sky"

10.0

Bearing in mind that we are talking about the Cambodian countryside, not a luxury hotel in the Bahamas, the property (villa, immediate surroundings, staff) did exceed our expectations. We booked a family villa with private swimming pool, where we were offered afternoon tea, breakfast, personal "butler" (meaning a dedicated member of the staff to organize our trips and visits, and deal with all possible requests and eventualities). The villa was elevated on stilts, although no dangerous animals are found anywhere near the surrounding areas. The rooms and facilities were serviced every day, the beds amazing, and the overall feeling was idyllic. I am counting that you have researched about Cambodia, its people, its shortcomings, and the several inconveniences that you will encounter in this developing country; it is not easy sometimes, and there is always a certain degree of discomfort for city dwellers. My ratings reflect the quality offered and effort put into making us feel comfortable and attended at every minute that was needed. And they did.

I am not sure about what I "did not like". I am not an entomologist, so I guess I would have enjoyed it more if I was one. There was a certain degree of toughening up with regards to the small and the minuscule animal life that shares this secluded place ecosystem, but that was part of the adventure. One of the kids found a courage he didn't know he had dealing with this.

"Awful food"

5.0

The staff were all very nice. They extended our check out time.

The food both at breakfast and at dinner is really not good and (in the case of dinner) outrageously overpriced. Even though breakfast and lunch were free, we chose to drive all the way to the city to eat because we couldnโ€™t handle the food at this hotel. We tried both Khmer and Western food and they were both terrible - low quality and variety. Both the food and the hotel itself are so overpriced for what you get. I have lived in Asia for many years and for this price you can get luxury, both in Cambodia and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. The place is very far from the city, which would have been totally fine if we didnโ€™t have to drive there for every meal. They offer a free โ€œtuk tuk driveโ€ (not a real tuk tuk, itโ€™s a remorque), but it was so far for such a vehicle that after one time we chose to pay for our own taxi. There are so many hotels in Siam Riep, and so many amazing restaurants, that Iโ€™m not sure how a place like this manages to stay in business.
