The resort was beautiful

During my stay the hotel was out of power for about 3 hours. With no power means no elevator to get you to your tower room. Also the heat wouldn't work until about 8 o'clock the next morning. The thermostat showed the temperature down to 64 degrees. We called the front desk and they said they were aware of the issue and working on it.

We recently stayed at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Michigan and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. From check-in to check-out, everyone made us feel valued and comfortable. The hotel itself was very clean and well-maintained, which made our stay even more relaxing. We were also pleasantly surprised by the price — it offered great value for everything included. Between the amenities, beautiful surroundings, and quality service, it truly felt like we got a great deal. The kids absolutely loved it! There was plenty to keep them entertained, and they’re already asking when we can go back. It’s not always easy to find a place that both parents and kids enjoy equally, but this was definitely one of them. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, family-friendly resort with excellent service in Michigan. We can’t wait to return!

"Disappointing Spa & Hotel Stay"

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I do think sharing our experience may help others set realistic expectations — something we wish we had before visiting. There were four of us coming for a spa day and overnight stay. Booking the spa was surprisingly difficult. If you want to book for four or more people, you must go through the group coordinator, who is not available every day. It took quite a while to even secure our reservations. Once we arrived, we were surprised by how small the spa area actually is. There were several groups there the same day in addition to regular customers, and the overall atmosphere felt much more like a YMCA-style facility than the high-end spa experience portrayed online. The spa locker room also doubles as the pool locker room, so there were children present. To access the hot tubs, you have to walk through hallways shared with the tennis courts, fitness area, and pool (including water slides and families). The outdoor hot tubs themselves appeared worn, with peeling tiles and cleanliness concerns. Inside the locker room, space was very tight — there were only two sinks available for getting ready while multiple groups were present. During our pedicure services, we were informed that nail polish removal was an additional $15, and the technician was unsure whether there would be enough time to complete the full service. This would have been completely fine — we simply wish this had been communicated when booking so we could have come prepared, especially since this visit was for my birthday and we were hoping for the full experience. Additionally, we had paid extra to have champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and truffles delivered to our room. They were not there upon arrival. Because we were heading out for the evening, we asked that they please be placed in the fridge when delivered. Unfortunately, when we returned around 9:30 PM, they had been left sitting out for several hours. For the price point, the hotel itself also feels due for some updates. I do want to note that the staff we interacted with were very kind and professional throughout our stay. Our disappointment was more with the facilities, communication, and overall experience not matching the upscale expectations set online.
