The cleanliness of our room. There were a lot of splatter marks on the big mirror, the wood around the circle mirror had a lot of toothpaste splatters on it as well as the outside of the shower door. The shelf in the shower are bar soap residue all caked on it and the shower floor was slippery like it hadn't been cleaned properly.

The restaurant staff was all very friendly. Food was not up to par, the pizza my kids refused to eat because it had this odd cheese on it.

After checking in, we were informed that our assigned room was located 15 minutes down the road and that we would need to drive back to the main property to use the amenities. This was during a whiteout snowstorm, and we were traveling with two small children. When I asked the front desk if we could change to a room within the main hotel—even a smaller one I was told this was not possible, despite there being many rooms available. The staff member was dismissive and told me to step aside (there was no one behind me, he was just done talking) Given the dangerous driving conditions, I could not safely continue driving with my children. As a result, I was forced to book another room on-site at full price ($345) and forfeit the original 700-square-foot room. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of flexibility, empathy, and customer service from the front desk.

The booking online is quite misleading, I didn’t realize they have multiple buildings some that were miles away from the main building where the pool is. The pool itself was incredibly outdated. Lifeguards don’t enforce any rules.

The Grand Traverse Resort was nice, clean and met expectations for a resort, however it missed the boat for our family vacation during the special vacation time between Christmas and New Years. The resort had excellent shopping, an extensive fitness club/pool area, and bright indoor tennis courts. The resort seemed to make few accommodations/changes for the massive amount of families/young children staying there during this vacation period and snowstorm. This most exhibited itself when it came to food options which were not kid friendly and limited. The luxurious tower restaurant was not appropriate for our family and the beautiful Niijii restaurant featured a fancy limited menu that didn't appeal to us or our small children. That left Jack's Taproom that had very few first come first serve tables, an overwhelmed and unfriendly waitstaff, and a slow kitchen. When the food did arrive it was quite delicious. The room service wasn't available during most of our stay as it was only available some days of the week. The hours of the bowling alley/arcade were also limited considering the amount of families that would have been interested, however it featured mostly claw machines. The resort had a few "holiday" activities, but most were geared toward adults and included a cost. With the amount of families staying, they missed a real opportunity to entertain the kids with some simple activities (i.e. film, games) to make this into a real family friendly vacation. The kids did enjoy the pool area, which was the highlight of our vacation, but otherwise the resort missed an opportunity to impress.

Kids overran the pool and I door hot tub at ALL TIMES! The last hour of the day should be adults only. Not everyone travels with kids and should get a break on vaca from others kids too!

Overall very nice stay.

Great conference setting! Rooms were nice and great common area in between. Large meeting spaces were nice but cold. Conference staff great. Banquet meal was sub par and wait at restaurants was way too long. The hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays. I loved the shops on site.

Thin walls and conjoining room doors close to bed. Could hear neighbors talking next door.
