Reid's Palace, A Belmond Hotel, Madeira

I loved my stay at Reids Palace. Service was friendly and accomodating. Extensive facilities and eating options. I especially liked the gardens and pools. The staff went out of their way to accomodate late check-out. Our room was only a bit above average but we had use of a lovely upgraded room after our original check-out time--above and beyond! I only wish the pools were open later and perhaps had a hot tub option for off season/evenings and that the hotel was not quite as pricey!

Het is een prachtig luxe hotel met een geweldige tuin en dito uitzicht. Je wordt heel goed verzorgd en het personeel is vriendelijk. Het eten is heerlijk.

Het is misschien wat stijf, er verblijven veel oudere mensen. Het vertier is wat oubollig.

Booked evening meal at Williams Classic colonial hotel and cocktail lounge was great but the view that was impressive in 1870 is now blocked by the savoy hotel and the cruise terminal 🤨 Williams restaurant reminded me of a 1970 office conversion with little architectural merit The food, wine and service was excellent but hugely overpriced for what it is. £500 for a less than average experience Better places to eat and better views

I've stayed in 12 Belmonds. This was my least favourite. The decor is mostly what you'd find in your grandma's house. Some of it is nice but it's a bit too old fashioned for my liking. I booked a room with striped wallpaper and apparently there's only 1 of those in the hotel so I didn't get it. They were going to give me a room with flowery wallpaper but (when I said it's so busy it's giving me a headache) they changed us to a room with simple white walls. Unfortunately we found an old sandwich that smelled badly in the mini bar. Not great! The intern at check-in was lovely and helpful. But the breakfast staff were quite slow. Good tennis court. Live entertainment at the bar was excellent. The singer had an amazing voice. Comfortable beds. Overall, unfortunately it wasn't worth the £800/ night we paid for.

La relación calidad-precio es uns estafa. No vayan a ese hotel La comuunicacion entre las distintas zonas es un laberinto de pasillos y ascensores donde siempre acabas perdido. Se anuncia como edificio histórico y casi todas las habitaciones estan en un bloque nuevo. El precio es escandalosamente caro para lo que poco ofrece. No hay piscina interior ( indoor) y ademas no funcionaba el spa por obras y no nos compensaron por ello. La zona de acceso al mar tambien estaba parcialmente en obras. Una total desilusión. No lo recomiendo a nadie. Se puede ir a cualquier otro hotel 5 estrellas de la zona con mejores servicios por un tercio de lo que pagamos. No volveremos !!

윈스턴 처칠이 머물렀던 역사적인 숙소라는 점도 흥미롭고, 정원도 호텔 구석구석도 이쁜 곳들이 너무 많아 아주 좋았습니다. 딱 1박만 하면서도 다채로운 경험을 할 수 있어 즐거웠고, 신혼여행이다보니 샴페인과 과일 바구니도 챙겨주시는 섬세함이 좋았네요.

가격이 아무래도 가장 부담되는 부분인 것 같습니다. 주차장도 협소하긴한데 그건 딱히 문제가 되진 않습니다. 이번엔 처칠이 머물렀던 방을 따로 구경하진 못 했어서, 다음 기회엔 꼭 해보고 싶습니다.
