1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

Exceptional stay Our suite was worth every penny. Quiet, private with a stunning view of the entire bay. Visiting in January without crowds was delightful. We enjoyed Neighbor’s excellent coffee and breakfast every day. The infinity pool is spectacular.

Beautiful island. But, advise researching south shore hotels. Hotel pretty but, waaaaay too expensive. 2-3 x more than any "resort" hotels I've visited! Nice staff, but not worth the experience. We had a tiny room with a terrace we could not use bc of all the mud. Warning- winter is rainiest season here. We only had 2 days of sun. But, beautiful lagoon & small adult pool. Very crowded at holiday time, 3 restaurants which reservations needed to be made in advance. If you don't have a car, you are stuck. If you do, 50$+ a night to park. Spa very expensive with several amenities out of order. I wanted to give a good review...we were so excited for our first trip to this island.

It wasn’t what I expected. There is no way this hotel can compare to the Four Seasons and/or the Ritz Carlton. Beware: you will be nickle and dimed! As a guest, they even charge for use of their very small sauna and steam room. The spa is tiny and can’t compare to the Grand Wailea’s spa or Montage in Maui. There is no spa hot tub or pool. If you visit from another hotel and spend hundreds of dollars at their spa or main restaurant they still require you to pay for parking! A (50) minute massage, too it only (40) minute when you consider walking to the treatment room and changing and talking. Disappointed and so not worth your money!

This bar was so wonderful in all respects. Kyle, Devin, and Hi’ilanei were such lovely hosts, so welcoming. We cannot WAIT to come back for delicious drinks, great music, amazing bartenders and ridiculous views.

Terri, my esthetician, was lovely. The facial massage table condors you in a zero gravity position making you that much more relaxed. The facial and spa experience were amazing.

This hotel is such a special place. If you are lucky enough to stay here even once in your lifetime, count your blessings. The scenery and location are picture postcard perfect. The hotel is large but never feels overly crowded even during peak travel seasons. The bar and restaurant settings are second to none. The staff, for the most part, are very friendly and well trained. I appreciated the convenience of booking services and reservations via the 1 Hotel app. Our mid tier room cost $4000/night when including all taxes and fees. At prices like that, service expectations are very high. On that note, there were a couple of disappointments: 1. Housekeeping services in our room were spotty. Dirty washcloths were removed and not replaced each night of our stay, necessitating a call for more. Dirty glasses were also not collected nor rinsed and returned to their correct location. The hotel is very focused on sustainability, which I support, but this felt more like a lack of attention to detail. Bathroom toiletries were also not straightened up when the room was serviced Overall, an opportunity for improvement. 2. The beach seating situation is my largest complaint. There are about 65 beach beds on the shore. About 20 are available for complimentary guest use. The other 45 have to be paid for at eye watering rates each day for daily use. The 25 complimentary beds go quickly leaving guests with no other option than to either sit on a towel in the sand while the remaining 40 beds sit mostly empty or fork out a minimum of $400/day if you want a real place to sit. Again, at $4000/night, a beach chair to sit on is an absolute minimum service expectation. 3. Breakfast- we booked through Chase travel so daily breakfast for 2 was included. Keep in mind that if you have to pay for breakfast, the only option in the restaurant is the buffet which costs $75/person including taxes and gratuity. This was my second stay at One Hotel Kaua’i but I’m not sure if I will return.

It is always good to see a familiar face when going to your favorite place. Love seeing Anthony, didn’t see him when we came in but he was there the next morning, wish we checked in with him.

Excellent stay. The setting is absolutely beautiful. From our intro with Matt to our check in with Dayna we could tell we were in good hands. Every staff member went out of their way to make for a wonderful visit. Despite the hotel being at high capacity over the holiday week it never felt too crowded. We had such a nice time we ended up extending our stay . Thank you to all the hotel team members!

The hotel is INFESTED with bugs. I travelled with my wife and two young kids. We had to first move rooms because of ants. They were at first in the corner and eventually ended up all over my daughter’s bed and luggage. We then moved to another room one floor below (real genius by the manager…solve the bug issue by moving us CLOSER to where they come from). Anyway, I continued to see a few ants in this room but we’re here for two more nights and I didn’t want to move yet again so I was going to let it go. Anyway, after a long day, I was looking forward to a nice relaxing shower. What greeted me? See my pictures. A giant bug hiding in the rocks in the shower. Anyway, if you value sanity and are not a fan of bugs, DO NOT STAY HERE.
