Cala di Volpe, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Costa Smeralda

Lovely hotel, with the James Bond vibe of course. Wonderful architecture. The rooms are lovely, make sure you get a water facing one. The staff are wonderful. The breakfast by the pool is lovely, and the pool is gorgeous, as well as the private beach reached by hotel boat that nips around the bay. Also you don't have to pay for the beds on top of your rooms, like the S of France! A quick drive or a 20 min walk away are some very gorgeous public beaches too.

Amazing experience at this hotel with one caveat. The pool is absolutely freezing cold and is the same water (but purified) from the ocean. The spa doesn’t have a hot tub either. I was advised to use the sauna or take a bath which seems odd to me but may be the standard for beach towns in Europe. Considering this is the end of summer, this is something that I wish wasn’t the case.

We went to the restaurant for an afternoon lunch after making a reservation. To our shock the price was 300 Euros per person for the buffet not including drinks. The buffet was underwhelming to say the least. I have had better quality and far more choice at virtually any Carribean all inclusive hotel. The sushi seemed to have been sitting for some time as the rice was dry and the selection was very limited. We were very disappointed and will ensure nobody we know will ver make the same mistake

The last review by Philip is spot on. This is not a luxury hotel or maybe at one time they were but definitely not now. They completely have missed the memo on how to act like a luxury hotel. Instead, we think management has been training employees to make sure no non-guests are visiting and for the guests who are there, to do everything to openly rip them off like a cheap Disney hotel instead of Sardinian luxury experience. Our friends were there the same time as us and they stayed on their family’s yacht because they wanted to be free to do whatever they wanted instead of having to be policed around. When they tried to come and visit the hotel and pick up items they bought, they were stopped and questioned at length. Then told that they had to spend 50 euros each in order to be able to come in. Was shocking. Not a relaxing feeling at all. And there is an officer in the lobby. Felt very unsafe and strange. People who comment positively here maybe went when the management was different or maybe haven’t seen what true luxury experience is. It’s a feeling of comfort and ease. Not this place. Oh and the hotel is invested with flies! They are everywhere all over food and kitchen. The “private” beach they have is not private. You will have non-stop peddlers trying to sell you stuff and can’t relax. At pool no one gets you water or offers towel! You have to use a QR code to get water and it costs over 15 euros. Bottom line, stay on a boat if you can or stay elsewhere.

The grounds of this place are beautiful. The room was just ok. It was in the "Heritage" section and on the smaller side. The shower was the smallest we'd seen in the 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip. It also was the only one without a makeup mirror and the only one who did not provide a tote bag to use when going to the beach or for excursions. Possibly the rooms in the other side of the hotel are nicer. The ones on the website look much nicer than the ones we were given.

This is a spectacular property with a private beach. The views are amazing. Excellent service. Delicious breakfast included.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Everything was amazing and well done. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Loved it!
