We booked massages at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa specifically because the booking included all-day access to the pool and hotel restaurants. When we arrived, we were told a conference had bought out the entire hotel — except the spa — and security physically prevented us from accessing amenities we'd been promised. No one informed us of this before we showed up, despite having several opportunities to do so. What happened next was unacceptable. In the spa's relaxation room, a space where guests waiting for services are in various states of undress, we found a conference attendee on an active Zoom video call. This is a privacy violation. We reported it immediately to spa staff. Their response: "He said he'll be off in two minutes." She did not ask the guest to immediately leave. No acknowledgment that a video call in a room full of undressed strangers is a serious problem. When I asked for a refund on services, the manager said the "best he could do" was offer a return visit to the same spa (a hard no from me) or a $40 refund. I took the $40 out of sheer exhaustion. That was two months ago. The refund has never been processed. So to summarize: Marriott sold amenities they couldn't deliver, failed to protect guests' basic privacy, and offered a resolution they didn't honor. I
