Hollins Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf

Location was beautiful and convenient

Whole place was just a bit tired and worn down. Room was not air conditioned which for over 140 a night I would expect. Fan in the room however.

I booked because the hotel is promoted as dog-friendly. Most staff were helpful and friendly. But see below

Whilst the hotel is promoted as dog-friendly, its facilities fall short. Pets cannot be left in rooms on their own, and are not allowed in the breakfast restaurant. The very limited location for breakfast with dog is ok only if you are the only person in the hotel with a dog and you are served by a waiter/tress. That worked on my first morning, not on my second when the male staff member told me that wasn't possible because he had staff problems and was busy. In fact there were few people in the restaurant and two waitresses in sight. I had to chain my dog to a table to serve myself breakfast. The staff member's job was to serve me, not tell me why he couldn't. There's a staff training issue there the hotel needs to address. In any event the limited space available for breakfast with dog (only one available table) is a challenge if there are several people with several dogs wanting breakfast at the same time. The hotel needs to rethink this.

Beautiful setting.

The rooms are comfortable but rather drab, beige & brown with no colour impact! There was no air conditioning!!

Gorgeous grounds, friendly staff, lovely golf driving range. Pool and changing facilities were clean and well maintained.

Would like the pool to be warmer

The breakfast was shockingly poor, all ultra processed, no vegetarian sausages. Hot food was all unpalatable. For this price I'd expect good coffee, not a machine with powders. Toffee flavoured muller yoghurt in a spa leaves a lot to be desired too. I'd expect natural yoghurt and cafetiere coffee as a minimum

The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable, and this significantly affected the quality of our stay as we were unable to get a good night’s sleep.

The room temperature was far too warm and uncomfortable, which made it difficult to relax, especially overnight. Unfortunately, the overall sleep experience was very poor. The pillows were flat and offered no support, and the bed was also quite noisy, which meant every movement disturbed sleep. The mattress itself was very hard and did not provide adequate support, leading to discomfort throughout the night. As a result, we struggled to get a proper night’s rest, which had a noticeable impact on our overall stay.
