The positives: the grounds of this 1800s manor home and golf course are beautiful. The location worked well for us to visit lots of places around Yorkshire and still make it to the Leeds airport easily for a very early flight. The cons: the interior of this hotel is like a cheap motel. The carpets are filthy and threadbare. The elevator made terrible mechanical noises and smelled like burning (we took the stairs from then on for fear of getting stuck). The walls are stained and scuffed. But worst of all, the staff doesn’t seem to care— there is a dining table in a central location (you need to walk past it to go to the gardens or the breakfast restaurant). It remained covered in the same leftover food and dirty plates from when we left for the morning at 8:30am to when we went to bed at 10 that night. We laughed in disbelief every time we walked by, and we observed multiple staff walk by it as though it didn’t exist. This wasn’t a one-off; on our last night, we ate at the hotel restaurant and no one cleared the table next to us from the time we sat down to the time we left. Overall, the contrast between the beautiful exterior and the frankly disgusting interior was jarring. This hotel is in no way worth the prices they charge— you’re better off at a 1-star motel.

As a couple we stayed at Hollins Hall Hotel for 3 nights. From start to finish everything was very good. We cannot understand why negative reviews have been given in the past. Our room was fine & clean. Breakfast was lovely, able to serve ourselves, no complaints. Yes, the dining room is on the smaller size but each night we got a table, having booked in advance, no problem. Chris & Liz in the restaurant were extremely helpful & friendly, as were all the waiting staff to be fair, thank you for helping to make our meals a pleasant experience. The food was delicious & large! The homemade steak pie was so good & very filling, choosing it for 2 of the 3 nights! Parking was ample and always easy to find a space. On our check out, which was easy, Joanna was very pleasant & once again another friendly & efficient member of staff. If ever we are in this part of the country again, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you.
