Wigan Oak Hotel

Staff were friendly, excellent that the hotel doesn’t charge for pets!

On entering the room, a really musty smell hit me to the point I had to open the window. The bathroom was in a bad state of repair such as cracked tiles, badly stained sink, the grout around the bath was coming off, door handle wobbly.

Staff were lovely and friendly and very kind to my dog which meant a lot 🤗

I thought I'd booked bed and breakfast but apparently it was bed only and breakfast cost me an extra £12.95 so that wasn't great

Overall Donna who worked on reception and served breakfast was the only staff member we came into contact with, but she was absolutely outstanding, she really made our trip to the hotel an excellent one. We were greeted with a smile and nothing was too much bother. Can't say how lucky this hotel chain is to have her working there,

There was a stale smoke smell in the bedroom and potentially this was on the sheets and though the hotel was spotless, ot smelt as if the company who washed the sheets may have people who smoked around the sheets, but this is only a guess. The staircase we used whenever going up and down stairs and this looked like it hadn't seen a hoover in a few weeks, but this may have been the age of the carpet. Over all the rest of the hotel was clean but very worn and needs refurbishment, a bit of investment jn this hotel and it would be amazing. Ps. On floor 2 it seemed to smell of weed when using the staircase no matter what time of day.

The location was somewhat convenient for me.

The room was incredibly dirty, marks up the walls, hole in the wall, slashes in the armchair, a broken hair dryer that smelled of burning hair, cobwebs and spiders, dirty carpets, the paintwork was bad and the shower was an accidental risk. The lighting in the room was so poor I had to use my phone's torch which was when I noticed how dirty the room was. I fell getting out of the shower because the shower door wouldnt move and the small gap I had was at the end of the bath where it curves on the bottom. Water went all over the floor while I showered so the floor was soaked and slippery.

Rather drab and unappealing, decor in bedrooms especially. For those on foot quite hard to find entrance (through the car park). Breakfast pretty unappetising.
